Texting and driving is a big issue in US. Many people die because of car crashes, most of which are caused by texting and driving. If you text and drive, you are putting not only your life in danger but also the people in your car and the people on the road. Teenagers are more likely to get into a car crash than adults. The reason why teenagers are more likely to get into car crashes is because teens these days are more devoted to their cellphones than adults. To prevent texting and driving, there should be a texting and driving education in schools to teach students the dangers of texting and driving. While teenagers drive, their full devotion goes to their text message and they forget that their car can easily go off the road. Teenager’s thinks that they can drive and text at the same time. But when they use their one hand to control the wheel and other hand to text message, the whole attention goes to the cell phone keypad and they end up losing control of the wheel. While text messaging is “banned for drivers in 46 states and the District of Columbia, many people continue to do it, despite knowing the dangers” (Shamoon 1). Texting and driving is very dangerous and can lead to lifelong injury or even death. More teens die of texting while driving than “the next three causes combined – homicide, suicide and unintentional drug overdose” (National 1). Most teenagers starts driving when they are in high school. When they first start driving, they do not know what one bad mistake could potentially take someone’s life. School is a place where a kid learn the most about everything. If we start teaching kids about the consequences of texting and driving in a young age, it can help them understand the true responsibility that you have when you go behind the wheel and start driving. If the teenagers are shown the videos of what happen when you text and drive in schools, it will help them understand that texting and driving and not worth it, they will think twice about texting while driving next time they are in the
