I work in a mix residential home for the elderly, some of the clients ,Dementia range from mild to severe. The clients are raised in a very different way to how I was raised and it is important that I must remember this and respect their this as we all have personal beliefs and preferences based on our background and upbringing. I have been brought as a Muslim where religious education was compulsory, however we still studied various other religions and were taught to respect all people and there beliefs. Prayers were a daily thing at the end of each assembly and whether or not I wanted to pat attention to the prayer time again I had to respect the people that did. Religion may affect people in many different ways, mainly because we all come from different backgrounds and are taught differently. However, it is important to respect how people honor their religion. I am an atheist however I still make time to talk to my clients about their religion even though my own beliefs it is not some thing that I choose to do as I know it makes the client happy it makes me happy to do this as I know it is some thing that they feel so strongly in and it is amazing at how much I really now look forward talking about it. It is part and parcel of the work that I do and part of showing the clients that we care about what makes them happy and respect their beliefs even if ours are different.
It is important to remember that my own personal preferences are different to others and I can't expect others to think, act and feel the same way as I do. For example I like to shower daily and some times twice daily, some of my clients do not like water and some really do not like showers or baths I have to respect there decision if they prefer not to have one and explain if possible that it is in, religion to smell nice and clean if they ignore this is in religion only but what they have to understand its nature to try and stay clean

Imagine growing up in a home where religion is the basis for everything you do. For instance, your father is a minister which means that you are in church 5 days a week. As you are embossed in this culture, you begin to take on the traits, beliefs and practices associated with it. You are fully immersed into your religion which now becomes second nature to you. You are taught that God helps people in need and looks out for all those who worship him. As you grow older, you believe more and more that your religious practice is what gets you through. You are now an adult and finally have the opportunity to live on your own. You’ve just been hired by a fortune 500 company and you are ecstatic because, it is your belief that God is the reason you were put in that position. As you report in to your first day of work, you realize that it is all you have ever wanted and you pray to thank God for the opportunity that he has provided you. You feel a tap on the shoulder and there is your supervisor telling you that you cannot pray in the office as it is prohibited by company rules. Many of your co-workers see this and they approach you at lunch time. They all feel your pain because they too have been told that due to company policy they also could not practice their religion at work. This is a problem. You realize that growing up in a Utilitarian environment urges you to fix this problem for the greater good of all the people working in this office. Religion should be allowed in the workplace to ensure that all people are afforded the opportunity to worship as they choose, within guidelines. Happier employees make for a better, more productive work environment.…

Religion is one of the protected categories that are protected under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This is Act protects employees from being discriminated on the bases of race and color, national origin, religion, and sex. This Act is only in effect for companies that have more than 15 employees. Discrimination is in all aspects of a person’s employment. You cannot discriminate in the Recruiting, Hiring, Performance, Training, Wages, and Benefits. What is relevant to our situation is religious discrimination. According to this Act, you may not treat a person unfavorably because of religious beliefs (Religious Discrimination). This is relevant in our situation because we needed to make sure we accommodated him and left him off on the “Holy Day.”…

Several religions, such as Confucianism, Judaism, and Christianity hold central beliefs that all people should be treated equally, regardless of race or religion. Often thought of as the core, or “golden,” rule, treating outsiders with respect is morally justified, and preached by many. For Judaism, this belief…

Religion is important in establishing diversity in our country and in instilling morals in different collective groups. However, in the past there have been some questionable attempts at spreading the knowledge of religion. For example, the treatment of the indigenous people during the time of the residential schools in Canada. This was anything but compassionate and welcoming. Times have changed a lot since then though and now different religions seems to be more accepting of other’s beliefs. Through being accepting and understanding, it seems that religion improves our quality of life here in Canada. Although sometimes things may take a turn for the worse, overall, I believe that our society is better off with our many different belief…

When I started my work placement at my setting I was working with my members of staff and manager who told me how to monitor children when they eat and which child cannot eat certain food because of their religion or culture. Before I started to give out the food for the children I had to read the food policies and procedures to know how to serve the food and drink for the children. At my placement I learnt how to monitor the children when they ate and how much they ate, and also about their allergies. I had to monitor how much the children drink and I had to make sure that they drink enough water or milk.…

Just like a salesperson at a kiosk in the mall, these people will disrupt a conversation, or even just one’s path to state their religious views. This can upset people in many ways. Whether it be that a person just does not want to be bothered, or that they believe in another religion, it can be equally offensive in both situations. In my personal experience when someone does this to one of my friends or me, he or she is often greeted by rudeness. If they are going to be rude enough to interrupt me with something I have heard before and do not care to hear again, then I am going to be rude back. An example of one of these spiels these people use would be, “Excuse me. Have you been introduced to Jesus, and let god into your life?” This is an extremely offensive way to approach someone in public. I feel uncomfortable when this happens and often get aggravated at the lack of respect that is shown towards me. It is offensive that someone is trying to tell me that my religious views are wrong and I need to follow what they follow. My religious path is the right way for me, and no one should try to tell me…

People practice and preach different religions all over the world. Some are Christians, some are Buddhist, and many more. We all follow our guidelines and rules to be a certain religion. I know a friend that fasts during Ramadan and while I am with him others come and ask if he wants to eat as a joke. It isn’t funny to those who take it seriously. He has been called names and made fun of for practicing his religion and I just can’t stand it. Just because one practice’s and respects a certain religion does not mean that he should be treated differently and unequally. We should all respect those who practice and preach different religions. If you were to be in that person’s shoes than how would you feel?…

In the United States, we have this constitutional right called freedom of religion. That is in all circumstances not just in a select few. In the workplace for example you have the freedom of religion. In my opinion, a company should but also should not have the right to discriminate on religious beliefs. Companies should be allowed because the person being discriminated against could bring bad vibes, bad intentions, and an unsafe work environment. An example, is if there was a newly immigrated syrian refugee that applied for a position and was all covered in religious garb and was extremely difficult to understand. This applies to all religious people that dress in their religious garb. Another example would be if a person that was an atheist…

People seem to shy away when it comes to talk about religion and politics for good reason. One cannot come out of the conversation agreeing with the other side so they revert back to relativism which is a go to for some trying to avoid confrontations, but what about our rights to religious practice at work? Where does one draw the line? We were born with the freedom of choice, this includes choosing to believe in what others tell you, to listen to things etc. One can easily choose to leave the room or place, but where it gets troubling is if it takes place during a meeting and the other persons morals are founded strongly on their religious beliefs and they just might either make or break a company based on their decision or performance.…

My wife and I are not religious, at all. We don’t attend church, pray or do confessionals. With that said we allow our children to draw their own conclusions. They have been to different churches for different religions. If they choose down the road they want to become Christian or Buddhist or whatever the case may be, so be it. My wife says that I get irritable or uncomfortable when we are with people who stop to pray before we eat or things like that. For example, A few weeks ago I was at football practice with my son and daughter and one of the coaches had invited a couple of guys to come and speak to our team. These gentlemen were from a Christian sports team and were talking to the kids about sports and Christianity. As these gentlemen spoke my children gave me looks like, what is this guy talking about? These guy’s told a team of football players that if they didn’t have god in their hearts that they were going to hell. Not only did they say they were going to hell but they also said that “I’m not saying this is gonna happen, but if you were driving home today and got in an accident and don’t have god in your heart you could go to hell.” Had I not been there and my children came home to tell me this, I would have been irate. The coach that invited the gentlemen was fired for not getting approval from the school. I don’t have a problem with people having their own opinions as long as they keep them to themselves.…

In today’s world, diversity is a common thing, and people of different religions can be found living in the same communities. Religion is one of the most controversial issues which is a big problem to some religious groups. One example of it is those people who criticize others based on their clothing and beliefs. They should allow other citizens to conduct their prayers and religious services in public because firstly, we have our own freedom of religion and secondly, we have different customs, beliefs and race that should be accepted and respected.…
