Summary Of Big Little Lies By Liane Moriarty: The Glass Castle
After I finished Jeannette Walls The Glass Castle during first marking period, I knew I wanted to read something more upbeat and filled with drama. I searched through my books at home and I found Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. The genre is Mystery and Drama which I love. I knew my mom read the book and loved it and is obsessed with the TV show. I love reading books before watching the TV show (or seeing the movie) so I knew Big Little Lies was a must read for me. This book did not disappoint and is definitely exciting and drama filled.

The book is told from three different perspectives of three totally different people all living in a beach town in California. One thing that the three women do have in common is they all have a child

It wasn’t your typical book and that kept me interested from cover to cover. It was a very dramatic book, “Angry hollers crashed through the quiet, cold night air” (page 1). I 100% recommend this book. I would recommend this book to mom’s because it shows the struggles of being a mom and what moms have to go through every day. In the beginning of the story Jane was preparing for Ziggy’s Orientation day, “Jane had been mildly nervous about Ziggy’s orientation morning and conscious of the fact that she would hide her nerves from Ziggy, because he was prone to anxiety” (page 21). I would not recommend this book to those who don’t like reading books that really develop characters who the reader gets to know. Those who just want a basic scary mystery novel might not like this book because even though Big Little Lies is a mystery it’s not quite scary. It is a great beach read and can be read fairly quickly but it does have some depth and won’t bore you with the same plot as every other beach book. There is love, friendship, a murder investigation and a great look into the relationships and behaviors of

One day I got a text from my dad saying he wanted a tattoo of Tammy’s name on his chest. I told him constantly how stupid he was for even contemplating doing this. After we had a discussion and I thought I talked him out of it, but he proceeded to make his devil woman happy. I didn’t talk to him for about a month after that; I was livid. He finally got me to come back over, and that is when everything got worse. All of the people started treating me like dirt and it seemed like Tammy wanted me gone for good. She tried to get my dad to take my name out of his will and put her in it instead. She was confused when he said no to her ridiculous idea. He finally came to his senses and cut her off. We thought they would be out in a number of days.…

While the mysteries kept my attention, my favorite part of this novel was the characters. Todd is a delightful young boy who, while not overly troublesome, gets in his fair share of scrapes. His sisters Libby and Lilly Jean do not start off with much of a role, but they become more important as the novel continues. I found myself laughing with the family, crying with the family, and even getting upset for the family. To me, one of the gifts in writing is to be able to make your audience feel what the characters themselves feel. Ms. Ulmer makes this novel enjoyable by making her characters…

This story is worth putting down any current novel and reading for multiple reasons. First, the story through Brennan’s point of view stops and makes you think about your family. Brennan grows up with a hard family, and it really shows what some people take for granted. Also, the fast-paced storyline never ends. This attribute contributes because you don’t want to stop reading and need to get one more age in. Finally, the way that it’s written through the characters gives you a better detail for understanding the setting. You learn through the characters eyes as you read. This is a short but sweet read that pulls at the heartstrings and makes you rethink how you view…

Drew and Gabie find the name who placed the order on the night she went missing. Kidnapper or murderer, they planned on finding out who this man really was. A third reason why I liked this book was because the layout of the story was catchy. The plot of the story made sense and she didn't leave out any details about what happen that would throw off the reader. The information was straight forward and you always wanted to keep on reading. The author, April Henry, was a writer by night and a public speaker at special homes for troubled kids during the day. She brings you real-life situations that occur to ordinary kids and puts meaningful life-lessons into a story. April has a small collection of mystery themed books that you may enjoy as well. Her dedication is strong as she writes to entertain kids and teach them about…

In Jeannette Walls’ memoir, The Glass Castle, Jeanette’s unconventional childhood is characterized by constant poverty and the chaos and confusion of having dysfunctional parents along with their nomadic lifestyle, moving from neighborhood to neighborhood. What is exceptional about Jeanette’s story is that although her parents were irresponsible, neglectful and careless, they were still able to manage to instill admirable qualities in their children and raise sane adults. Jeanette’s parents, Rex and Rose Mary, taught her and her siblings, Brian and Lori to be independent, strong, and to love gaining knowledge and learning.…

Jeannette Walls’ memoir The Glass Castle, documents her childhood which is surrounded by poverty and inattentive parents. Both of the parents of the Walls children were self-absorbed in their own lives, the children learned that they must depend on each other to meet their own basic needs. Even though Rex Walls was an alcoholic and Rose-Mary was indulged in her paintings, they managed to teach their children the most important life lesson that well-rounded adults must know. The memoir expresses Jeannette’s feelings towards her parents, which follows a quote by Oscar Wilde, “Children begin by loving their parents; as they grow older, they judge them; sometime, they forgive them.” As the memoir starts, Jeannette writes about how she loves her…

In a life filled with many difficult decisions people often choose the easy way out by lying to better their situation. Arthur Miller, the author of The Crucible, lived during the communist scare that took place during the late 40s and early 50s in America. Noticing how false and unjust the accusations were, and how people accepted the accusations and falsely confessed to the crime as to save themselves, just as people had during the Salem witch trials, he decided to write an allegory show how time hasn't changed anything. A human's natural response in life is to do what betters their own situation even if that means lying or going against what they know to be right or true. Spreading hysteria, during McCarthyism and The Crucible, puts many…

The story above is the plot from Pretty Little Liars. Pretty Little Liars is a haunting series that is extremely addicting. In the series there are 17 books and 2 prequels. I have read and own them all. Each book is filled to the brim with adventure, horror, humor, romance, and of course, secrets. The author is Sara Shepard, who started this series in 2003 and the final book came out only last month. At first the book reviews were very mixed but now the only reviews you could find would be positive. Here is one of the reviews from the first book by the New York Times…

The thing I liked best that it is written with passion and skill and it shows in constantly plot changing or infusion of amazing descriptive language and above all this novel takes you visually to the places in the book because of its perfect descriptions. In fact this book is very compelling as all the facts of the murders are taken from real cases. My only criticism of the novel is that you can not read it before you go to bed, because you can't stop reading, when you get into it.…
