The Story Of Jonny
August 1, 1942- Hi, my name is Jonny, and this is my first page of my diary. I think i’m 9 years old, and I don’t know my last name either as I never knew my parents. The school I go to took me in and lets me attend for free. The school is now taking us somewhere tomorrow and I have no idea why. I have asked everyone why, but either they say they don’t know or they say to not worry about it. This is why I am starting this diary and bringing it on this journey with me. This situation is scaring me and making me think that I did something wrong.

August 2, 1942- Good Morning diary, Today is the day we leave. It is 6:00 AM and it is a very dreary day. The sky is gray, thunder and lightning are cracking, its humid, and it is pouring rain. On top of that there are a lot of people scurry every getting our plane ready. I still have not figured out why we are leaving. I see other kids with there families and mothers and fathers crying, and I have no idea why. There are loudspeakers blaring instructions for the people working, but I don’t understand it over the crying, yelling, thunder, lightning, and the heavy rain. I am worried about what is going to happen soon. Oh, I need to leave now. I will write again after the plane ride to where ever we are going.

I heard a crash, and then woke up on an Island. I have no idea what time it is. There are a bunch of my classmates, but I don’t actually know any of them. I’m now very scared because there was a loud sound and all the kids are moving towards, so I have to go to not get left

We stay with each other until we found another boy and then another boy, so now in total, we had a group of 4 boys all around 6 and 7 years old. There was chaos in the group none of us knew what to do or where to go, some ok all us were on the brink tears if not full on crying.…

I was sitting in the doctor’s office this morning waiting for my appointment, thinking about what current event I could choose that would include the 6 sociological concepts. I was at a loss. Syria crossed my mind. Obama care was a thought. But my answer was lying on the coffee table beside me with a Sports Illustrated cover and the picture of a football phenom with a number 2 jersey emblazoning his torso and wearing his Texas A&M helmet. I picked up the magazine and found the article on page 26 and started to read.…

I’ve never wrote in a diary nor have a planned on it, but I feel that my experience should be shared with everyone. My name is Edith Goldberg. I was born 1928 in Teschenmoschel for most of my life which is a small village near Kaiserslautern, Germany. My family were farmers that lived in a small village of about 200 people. The village had a very small Jewish community… It used to be bigger, but over time people either had left or died. From what I remember I had a normal, happy childhood with my parents and sister. I remeber my family and I would be hay-making in the summer and tobogganing in the winter. My family always stuck to the Jewish traditions. Man, Those were the goodtimes. I also remembers a time that wasn’t all that good, which…

Family Guy is literature because of its references to social issues in today’s society. For example, models think they have to be super skinny in order to be a good model. There is also an episode about how ridiculous reality TV. shows are now and how easily it is to become famous. Also, this show portrays how obese our society is now by letting Peter eat as many burgers as he pleases because he saved a person. This show is not just a show to laugh at; there is a deeper meaning behind every episode that gives examples of how our society is today. Literature in this century consists of today’s problems and expressed in many new ways such as cartoons, online, and even in songs. Kids are no longer reading literature…

Do you know what a hero is? A hero to me is someone who has courage to stand up against things and that risks his own life for something small. They are also outstanding achievements. “Y’all were heroes from the beginning.” (Hinton,107) I believe that someone in the book “The Outsiders” named Johnny is a hero. He is because he saved Ponyboy, he saved all the kids from the church that caught on fire, and he gave Dally something to live for.…

    Essay On Johnny Tremain

The movie Johnny Tremain helped me gain more knowledge about the American Revolution from a different perspective. Johnny Tremain is a work of historical fiction, combining real people and events like Paul Revere, Sons of Liberty, and the Boston Tea Party, and fictional ones like Jonathan Tremain, Priscilla Lapham, and Ephraim Lapham. The fictional characters, although these people did not historically exist, gave me a personal insight to the actual events that occurred such as the Boston Tea Party, and the Battle of Lexington and Concord. These characters gave this film variety and creativity which made me learn more about the real events.…

I woke up tired on a beautiful, sunny, Tuesday morning. It was the day I had to fly to San Francisco for my job on a cruise ship. I had been in between cruises, so I had taken the chance to come see my parents in Newark, New Jersey. Later I realized that it could have cost me dearly. I changed into my pressed, white, long sleeved shirt with khaki pants and my sailors hat that I had to wear for my job as a deckhand. I arrive at Newark Liberty International Airport a hour before my flight, where I hug my parents goodbye. I walk in and go through security easily and go to my gate and wait for thirty minutes until we would be able to board.…

My feet felt like they were walking on quicksand as I was walking down the hallway to the hatch. My nerves were bouncing off the walls. I have never been out of the country before, let alone with a bunch of strangers. The plane ride felt like it was so short because I didn’t know what my eyes would foresee when I landed. I was heading toward a country with one of the worst devastating earthquakes recorded, Haiti! The opportunity came to me when my church was signing up people for Mission of Hope to take a trip to Haiti on June 2012. They told us a couple of things that we would experience and do while on the trip. Nothing prepared me though for what I would see with my own eyes. Since our flights were running late I didn’t land in Haiti till dark. A bus came to transport my group to our camp site. Even in the dark misty fog you could see there were not many buildings. All you could see was outlines of tents and piles of rubbish. When my group arrived to the camp site we were shown our assigned rooms and instructed to get some sleep because tomorrow was going to be a busy day.…

I learned that I am on a ship to the “New World.” I am able to see now because someone took off a bag that was blinding me. The conditions are horrible. The heat is unbearable and sickness is crawling all over the ship. People are sick from the angry sea and from the conditions we are forced to live in. The skin on my knees and elbows is mostly gone and I haven’t been offered food or water. My mother was separated from me and my father is gone. He was sickened with dysentery and was removed. I don’t know where he went , but he hasn't come back yet. Most nights seemed like they would never end because of the rough seas crashing on the hull. The cries of the women and children were more than I could bare. The door to the dingy place creaks open, and beams of sunlight burn my eyes. Interrupting my thoughts I was having of my…
