By 10 a.m I was walking myself across campus to the gym to my second job as a concession stand manager. When I first arrive at work I get all the food out and set up for the tournaments and the games , sometimes I felt like I was moving in slow motion throughout the day just from being fatigued on studying in the morning and sleeping 3 hours a night. Even though I was working with little energy left, I would keep reminding myself what I was doing this for, to keep me motivated through out the day. I enjoyed my time working as the concession stand manager and getting to be around the action of the sports and the great people that worked with me. By 8:00 pm I was closing the concession stand and getting ready for my next job as a security guard that started at 9:00 pm. The hour I had in between I would study for my tests coming up that week , before having to be at work to maintain traffic on parking for the many concerts and plays that was held every other Friday, Saturday and …show more content…
After attending the first campus along with ACC I truly believe I was being prepared to attend Texas Tech and to be apart of such a great physical therapy program. I love that there is a hands on program that helps you get a better visual of what you'll be doing in the work force. Truly it's encouraging to know that 100% of the students graduating are able to get a job after 6 months of graduating to a physical therapy facility. The most appreciating quality of Texas Tech , that the teachers, students, and aids will do everything they can to help you and keep pushing you to reach your goal to finish. To have attended a campus that doesn't value encouraging the students to keep going, not give up and that it's possible to finish and walk across that stage being proud to say you did it and your campus helped you

While the word `professionalism' usually refers simply to the quality of being professional, in truth it does not describe a single quality, but rather encompasses many different attributes that together define what a professional is. Throughout my experiences in various physical therapy settings, I was fortunate enough to observe therapists who have not only served as my role models, but have also taught me what professionalism really means. Not only excelling in their duties as physical therapists, every person I've been lucky enough to work with has been kind, accountable, and extremely committed, all of which are traits I have tried to emulate in my work as a volunteer and physical therapy technician. While I observed various displays of professionalism in different physical therapy…

The APTA’s vision of “transforming society by optimizing movement to improve the human experience” is a profound statement. This statement is a testament to my life because I have lived it. I am not the individual blessed with Greek like genetics who can eat whatever they’d like without repercussion. Rather, I was once an obese teenager on the verge of developing metabolic conditions. This lead too many frustrating experiences that stemmed from my inability to perform gross motor tasks. Like many Americans who need Physical Therapy this life style led to a life event where I injured myself. I had a choice: I could complete the recovery procedures while continuing to live the way that caused the injury, or I could get serious about my health and change my reality. Fortunately, I chose to change my life for the better; I chose to optimize my movement and improve my quality of life.…

What if people lived healthier lives, practiced preventive medicine, and took precautions against illness and disease? My days in the physical therapy department often made me think about the prevention of injuries as well as the injuries themselves. I was already doubting my future career choice as a physical therapist. Although I loved the science of it and helping people, the lack of variety within the field and its limited options for growth bothered me. I needed a career that helped a large number of people, emphasized prevention and primary care rather than tertiary care, and would continually challenge and motivate me to improve. Knowing that I really did not want to pursue physical therapy as I had originally planned, my thoughts wandered to the area of public health, particularly health management.…

“Get off the couch and stop looking at a television screen” is what I tell my three younger siblings everyday. As the older brother, I take responsibility for my siblings’ health and well-being. Instead of playing sports, my siblings prefer staying indoors texting on their phones or playing video games. It concerns me that not only my siblings but also children and even adults nowadays are not motivated enough to get outside, exercise, or participate in physical activities. Coincidentally, pushing my ideals about health and exercise on my younger brothers and sister would eventually shape my career path in physical therapy. I prefer a career that requires being active and working with people on a daily basis than having a desk job and staring…
