Becoming A Physical Therapist Essay
I am planning on making my career as a physical therapist. The main job responsibilities of a PT are diagnosing and managing dysfunction and improve physical and functional abilities, bring back, maintain and promote optimal physical function as well as optimal wellness and fitness and optimal quality of life associated with movement and health. PT’s also take patient’s medical history, conduct a system review, and conduct different tests to diagnose any current potential and existing issues. They create exercise programs specific to each patient and assists the patients in following them in their every PT visit. PT’s later conduct progress evaluation to examine the any improvements in patients and the extent of the improvements. Physical Therapists now are required to have a doctorate degree. Some schools, like Quinnipiac University, have 3 and 3 program for PT, however, Rutgers does not have the 3 and 3 program. A student wanting to pursue a career in Physical Therapy must go to school for 4 years and complete their undergraduate program in any science related major, preferably Exercise Science. During their undergrad, each student is required to take common science courses, such as Biology, Physics, Chemistry, as well as math courses, like Calculus and Statistics in addition to other program requirement

As technology advances, new exercise machines are made to help people regain their strength or sustain it at least. New exercises are also created for PT patients as people become more educated. Before people who wanted to become a Physical Therapist only needed a Bachelor's Degree, however, as the world advances, more education is required in order to fully help patients in the best way possible. Also, the more education one has, the more salary they get. Thus, a median salary for a Physical Therapist with a doctorate degree is $76,310.
