Why I Want To Be A Physical Therapist
Bones, ligaments, tendons, and muscles. A physical therapist must know how to work out, strengthen, and prevent injuries for all of these things. There are some aspects of being a physical therapist that scare people away from pursuing the job. For example, working with bone displacement or torn muscles, which makes many people feel squeamish. Also, becoming a physical therapist requires a variety of skills and years of education; however, physical therapy can be one of the most rewarding professions that you could ever do.
When entering into physical therapy, there are many options. Some therapists work will older ages of people while other therapists specialize in pediatrics. Therapists that work with kids usually find jobs in schools or other pediatric doctors offices.

At a college such as Ohio State, you could get a degree from the School of Health in an area like biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or exercise science. You could also get any degree in Rehabilitation Sciences. After you earn your undergraduate degree, you are able to apply to a School of Physical Therapy. Unfortunately, many physical therapy programs are very competitive. At Ohio State, applicants must have an associated bachelor’s degree and an overall GPA of at least 3.0. However in recent years, the average GPA of admitted students was 3.7 (majors.osu.edu 7). If you are accepted, you have to complete coursework for the physical therapy program, as well as logging 2000 hours of clinical work in an office or other medical work space with a registered physical therapist (bls.gov 6).
