Spanking Argumentative Essay
I personally don't advocate spanking. It's absolutely a No of using spanking as a form of discipline children. Spanking is a real contradiction. We teach the kids not to use violence and not to hit others, whether they are angry or not. Even when they see another kid did something wrong, or bad, they are still not allowed to hit. If we teach our children in such a lovely way like that, then why would we are still spanking them when they make mistakes, how will the kid ever learn that hitting is wrong? According to Hoffman (1983), Spanking is an act of violence and it is not going to make children realize why their behavior was wrong or what they should do instead. Children who are spanked by their children usually have fear, anger, and sadness …show more content…
Also, Spanking brings adverse side effects to children. It increases in mental health problems to children and their adult-hood. There many different ways that is better to discipline children than spanking. One of the good ways to discipline them that i learned from my brother-in-law is sending our kids to a room where they cannot interact with anyone else, and then taking away their privileges. After staying in the room for a while, they would be cool down and realize what they did is wrong. We only This method is really a good way to teach our children. I live with my sister and my brother in law and I’ve witnessed the way they teach their daughter which is my niece. My sister usually spanks her daughter while my bro-in-law punishes her by putting her in a room herself. It turns out that my niece usually follows and listens to my bro-in-law than my sister. Rather than spanking, this is a good way to discipline children. They have a chance to resolve their anger, but at the same time have something taken away from them so that they can understand the behavior they displayed was

Is corporal punishment an effective way of disciplining children? Corporal punishment is a violation inflicted on children, teachers, and others in names of “discipline” which is experienced by a large majority of children in many states worldwide. In the United States, there are laws protecting children from physical abuse, including at school and home; nevertheless, most American parents think spanking is an appropriate method of discipline for children. There are some countries that have passed anti-spanking laws such as Germany, Sweden, and others, but other countries do not have any support against spanking. Spanking children can leave physical scars, affect mental problems, and be ineffective in that children do not understand which is…

This parenting method has nothing to do with teaching the concept of right and wrong to a child, yet it implants a fear factor toward parents which isn’t a good sign for a healthy family relationship. In fact, the study of Dr. Bruce Lipton (Lipton, qtd in Markham 4) proves that “... it is biologically impossible to learn when the kids are fearful. The fear response launches adrenaline in the bloodstreams and brains. The blood is deflected to the extremities of the body and thinking is basically shut down in favor of reflexive responses.” In addition, spanking teaches children many negative behaviors.…

I believe that spanking your child is a good form of discipline. When a child is growing up, he or she doesn’t really know right from wrong. A child can try to get away with almost anything. But if you enforce spanking, that child will eventually learn right from wrong. Many parents try to communicate with their kids and tell them that they are misbehaving. That method doesn’t seem to have an effect on children. Plus you should never apologize to them because they have to know…

Apart from the legalities, is spanking a good idea? Does it work? According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, about 90 percent of U.S. parents spank, and about 59 percent of pediatricians in a 1992 survey said they support the practice. According to the academy, effective discipline has three key components: first, a loving, supportive relationship between parent and child; second, use of positive reinforcement when children behave well; and third, use of punishment when children misbehave. Many parents these days are fearful of using spanking as punishment, either because of the law or because they fear it teaches violence to their kids.…

What if you were sentenced to death for a crime you didn’t commit? Cameron Willingham was put to death for a crime he didn’t even commit. It’s not okay to sentence someone to death for something they didn’t do. Life in prison is a much better option because you can’t escape from what you did. If you are innocent you will be able to get let out of prison, you just have to sit and think about the crime you committed, and if you have a case like Willingham where you were innocent they would be able to release you from prison.…

Parents have spanked their children for quite some time; for thousands of years, at least. Until the New Parenting revolution of the late sixties /early seventies swept common sense from child rearing, most parents spanked. In 1965, spanking was alive and well. Some children were not spanked much, but they contend that each one was memorable. It has not been proven that being spanked improves a child’s behavior but some believe it does. Some individuals have become violent individuals from the spankings they received as children. There are also some who received spankings but have become non-violent individuals are very respectable members of society. When a child was spanked, they did not go out of the house looking for some smaller child to “whoop”, as phrased in the South. The worst consequence of being spanked is that the child came to loathe a parent (There is no guarantee this feeling would not have occurred regardless of being spanked).…

"In a new study published in Pediatrics, researchers at Tulane University provide the strongest evidence yet that children's short-term response to spanking may make them act out more in the long run. Of the nearly 2,500 youngsters in the study, those who were spanked more frequently at age 3 were much more likely to be aggressive by age 5"(Kovac). According to the Bing dictionary, spanking is an act of slapping, especially on the buttocks as a punishment for children. It is also known by the name of corporal punishment, which is a bad form of disciplining. Spanking is not the most effective way of disciplining a child, even though it is sometimes proclaimed to be, it causes the child to be aggressive, and is psychologically unsound.…

But in a study, mothers who combined reasoning with negative consequences had the most success in changing negative behavior. Den A. Trumbull, M.D.; president of the American College of Pediatricians believes spanking is a proven way to reinforce milder disciplinary tactics. The researchers came to a conclusion that spanking disobedient 2- to 6- year-olds worked just as well at reforming their behaviors as 13 alternative disciplinary approaches like giving a time-out, reasoning with a child, and taking away privileges. As long as the parents explains the reason for their action it should not be considered corporal punishment. "Some kids are difficult to parent. At times, they simply won't stay in a time-out and they can't be reasoned with," says Robert Larzelere, Ph.D., author of the Clinical Child review…

Spanking is the act of smacking the buttocks of a child with an opened hand. Some parents adopt this form of corporal punishment as a back up to non-physical discipline. The law should not ban the act of spanking a child in parenting because it is not a form of abuse. Parents should be free to spank their children appropriately, at the right time and for the right reasons, to create an understanding for what is acceptable and what is not. Definitely, spanking is an effective parenting tool.…
