Songs Figurative Language
In this era of increasing emphasis on art, more and more people start learning about some arts, one of the famous art activity is to sing a song. For me, it’s not like a hobby, it’s more like a part of my life. So I choose one of my favorite song to express myself.in the song, there are many figurative languages, for example, there have repetition, simile and rhyme. first of all, there are many repetitions in this song, repetition means the act of repeating, or doing, saying, or writing something again; repeated action, performance, production, or presentation. in my opinion, if you repeat some words over and over, it can show your strong feeling, you want to tell others or yourself something. For example, in my song, it repeat ‘When I'm gone…’ the girl is telling her friend she will leave, she is emphasizing the truth that she will leave, she believes her friends will miss her so much. …show more content…
simile refer to the practice of drawing parallels or comparisons between two unrelated and dissimilar things, people, beings, places and concepts. By using similes, a greater degree of meaning and understanding is attached to an otherwise simple sentence. For me, simile is very important in my life, I always use simile in my daily life and in my essay. simile is a very good way to express something visually. For example, if you are express something you cannot touch or see, you can use simile to easily tell others what is it look like .In my song the girl said ‘.And I sure would like some sweet company’ it means she really want go with the person she loves, she thinks if she can go with her lover ,the traveling would be more sweet than she travel

Hozier seamlessly ties in repetition and parallelism to simplify the message he is attempting to communicate. The main part of the song in which the listener can easily detect parallelism is in the third stanza: “No tired sighs, no rolling eyes, no irony/ no ‘who cares’, no vacant stares, no time for me” (7-8). Here, the word “no” is repeated to further emphasize the fact that the artist does not want to have to deal with these signs of hardship in his relationship with this new woman. Another example of repetition is Hozier’s use of the word “babe.” “Babe” is repeated in the song a total of four times. At plain sight it can be seen simply as filler word; however, the placement of the word reveals a deeper reason for its inclusion. Hozier deliberately only uses the word “babe” to start lines in which he says something negative about the relationship. The song begins with, “Babe, there’s something tragic about you” (1). Aforementioned, this line has a negative connotation to it despite beginning with a word of adoration. This creates contradiction in his writing. Another instance in which this is used is in line 13 with, “Babe, there’s something wretched about this,” where the same explanation applies. By following “babe” with these negative descriptions, Hozier…

This poem includes a lot of repetition in more than one occasion. For example when the author constantly repeats phrases such as “a girl is a girl” and “laughy laughy” that alone sends a message to the reader. That message is that when someone has an opinion, especially a stereotypical opinion his mind is set on that opinion and will not change his mind. Also, it helps understand the theme or meaning of the story a lot more.…

This is a sad song, it reflects sadness and heartache. The theme is a guy who is leaving her (the narrator). But he’s leaving her not because he wants to, but because he has a military mission. He has enlisted to be a military soldier as volunteer service. He doesn’t want to go but he needs to. He is in such a pain for leaving her that he doesn’t even have the courage to say goodbye “Face the rhythm of the night to say goodbye”. Also, she says that she writes this song to him so when he’s in pain he’ll have a piece of her to embrace. The symbol is the stars. The stars in the song represent light. Stars represent her hope and faith that he’ll be done soon and he’ll be back home safe. The motif is the mission. All of the song surrounds the fact that he’s leaving for a mission. This fact emphasizes the feelings and can also apply in other situations. I mean, life is a mission and sometimes you’ll say goodbye even though you want to stay, but sometimes that isn’t possible; you just remain faithful to see them again.…

The words of the song give it meaning and put it into easy enough terms that the audience that is listening to it loves the song. I think when a artist is producing a song, they make it a obligation to produce something they know the public is going to love, and something that everyone can sing along to. The chorus beginning with “my wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to, your dreams stay big and your worries stay small…” repeats itself four times to emphasis that they truly do care about this person even though they may not feel the same way about the artist singing. Creating this pattern makes the words stronger and more effective to those who are listening to it. Not only does the mode, actually written words, make a song successful, but other modes accompany the words into making the tone…

The song “Firework” by: Katy Perry has a lot of symbolism. With her beautiful voice, and to her amazing lyrics, people can really relate to what she is saying. From her lyrics in “Firework” I was able to pull out three lyrics that I think have the most symbolism. “Do you ever feel like a plastic bag, drifting through the wind wanting to start again?”, “Cause baby you’re a firework, come and let your colors burst”, and “You don’t have to feel like a wasted space, you’re original, cannot be replaced” are the three lyrics that stood out to me the most with the most symbolism.…
