3-4 Summative Assessment I decided to put the fight and Tybalt’s death in between the wedding and the wedding night because I felt that it would add action and suspense. It worked out perfectly where Juliet had to test her love for Romeo and if it was worth it or not. Juliet had to decide whether her love for Romeo was strong and important enough even after he killed her dear cousin. I also put it in this order so the Montagues and Capulets would hate each other even more than they did before. This made it so the acceptance from Lord Capulet of Juliet’s love for Romeo would be much harder to receive, adding suspense and making things more dramatic yet emotional. I rewrote it this way so it would add an emotional affect to this scene. Most important so that Romeo had a real reason to kill Tybalt. If Romeo hadn’t killed Tybalt, then the story would be much different and would not have turned out the way I wanted to write it; therefore, Romeo needed to have an excuse for having revenge towards Tybalt. This also made the Prince’s punishment heart wrenching for Romeo because he had been banished. This made it so Romeo and Juliet really could not be together, adding a dramatic and emotional effect. In Brooke’s poem, the word choice I feel is a bit deeper, but in the process, it is descriptive yet gets to the point faster than in my writing. I wrote Act 3 Scene 1 lengthier and a tad more on the violent side. I did this so my audience could get a feel from everyone’s perspective of the fight. Unlike play wrights, poems are supposed to tell the story in an appeasing nature, but they are not necessarily supposed to be in full detail and descriptions about what is happening during each event. This is most of my reasoning for writing this scene differently from the poem. First off, a simile is used to compare two different things. In poems, things and ideas need to be compared to get the point across to the audience and

The bodies of Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet were found today in the Capulet tomb. Romeo had taken a poison, and Juliet stabbed herself with Romeo’s dagger. But the question is why? It all begins with the feuding Montagues and Capulets. Romeo and his friends sneak into a Capulet party, where Romeo meets and falls in love with Juliet. With the help of Friar Lawrence, who hopes to reconcile the families, they are secretly married the next day. Juliet’s cousin Tybalt, who hates the Montagues more than anyone, challenges Romeo to a fight. Romeo refuses. Mercutio is offended by the way Tybalt treats them and accepts the fight on Romeo’s behalf. Mercutio ends up getting killed. Romeo loses his self control and kills Tybalt in return, which leads to his exile by the Prince. He threatens to execute Romeo if he returns. Juliet is distressed. The Capulets misinterpret it, and threaten to disown her if she does not marry Paris. Friar Lawrence gives Juliet a potion that will put her in a death like state. Balthasar, unaware of the plan, gives Romeo false news that Juliet is dead. Heartbroken, Romeo purchases a poison and goes to the Capulet tomb where he murders Paris. Still believing Juliet to be dead, Romeo drinks the poison which kills him instantly. Juliet awakens, finding Romeo dead beside her, and stabs herself. The families are reconciled by the deaths of their children and agree to end their violent feud.…

Mercutio steps in to fight Tybalt, because Romeo is scared to fight because he is married to Juliet secretly. Tybalt kills Mercutio, then is slain by Romeo. The Prince of Verona soon bans Romeo from Verona. Juliet is upset about Romeo leaving the City. I believe that if Tybalt would not have been so hard headed and had listened to his Uncle, Romeo and Juliet would still be alive but not married. Mercutio maybe would not have placed a curse…

First, if they did not have a feud Tybalt would have never challenged Romeo to a duel. It was the feud that made Tybalt hate the Montagues. He thought that because Romeo was a Montague he should have never went to the party and it made him angry that he did. Next, Juliet’s family hated Romeo more after he killed Tybalt. Romeo did not have a chance at seeing Juliet, if her family saw him they wanted him dead because they thought the banishment was not enough of a punishment for killing Tybalt. Lastley, Lady Capulet said “For blood of ours shed blood of Montague,” when she learned Romeo killed Tybalt. They wanted Romeo dead after they heard he killed Tybalt. Juliet could not let her family know that she just married Romeo because they would never approve and they could not see each other. Since they couldn’t see each other Juliet made a plan for them to escape together but it failed and Romeo ended up killing himself before she woke up and then she killed herself. They could not see each other because of the long lasting feud and because of that Romeo and Juliet ended up both committing…

In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Benvolio is more civilized than Tybalt. To begin, Benvolio is respectful towards his kin. In a conversation with Montague, Benvolio wishes that “[his] noble uncle…so please [himself], step aside” (Shakespeare 1.1.140-153). Benvolio addresses his uncle with the utmost respect and politeness, depicting his civilized nature. Next, Benvolio tries to avoid violence. Upon seeing a fight, Benvolio intervenes to try and “put up [their] swords” (1.1.63). Benvolio’s trying to avoid a conflict demonstrates his civil actions. Unlike Benvolio, Tybalt is uncivilized. First, Tybalt does not respect the wishes of his uncle. Instead of doing as Capulet bids, Tybalt expresses to his “uncle, ’tis a shame” (1.5.82). Rather than politely doing as he is told, Tybalt snaps back rudely to his elder, illustrating his uncivil side. Whereas Benvolio asks his respected uncle to step aside politely, Tybalt disregards Capulet’s wishes and even retorts with a saucy comment, hence displaying his lack of civility in comparison to Benvolio. Moreover, Tybalt welcomes a fight. When given the chance to avoid using violence, Tybalt does not “excuse the injuries/that [Romeo] has done [him]; therefore [turns] and [draws]” (3.1.65-66). Instead of calmly forgiving and forgetting past offences, Tybalt intends to fight with Romeo. Tybalt is being uncivil towards Romeo, as he is trying to start a conflict with him when unnecessary. In contrast to Benvolio, who does his best to avoid fights, Tybalt strives for a conflict, hence proving him the less civil of the two. In conclusion, Benvolio is more respectful and peaceful than Tybalt, proving him to be the more civilized…

I think almost everyone has heard the story of Romeo and Juliet. It is a very popular book, they have made movies and plays out of the book. Each very similar in ways and very different in other ways. Below I will be explaining all the ways they are similar and different in my opinion. The three movies we are compare and contrasting are in the years of 2014,1968,1996. My personal favorite out of the three would have to be the 1996 one with Leonardo DiCaprio. The major similarities in the three versions are in my opinion are the way Romeo and Juliet fell in love so quick, as they say love at first sight. They met at the ball that the Capulets had and the montagues came and wore masks and costumes and Romeo spots Juliet and thought she was beautiful. I think how they met and how it happened is my favorite part of the whole story. I think is just beautiful how they fell in love. The major differences in the three versions are the ways they are presented. The 2014 and 1996 movies are more modern in many ways like the characters and the way that the director does the move. The 1968 is more of…

The two lovers were born into families that have been involved in a feud that has lasted so long that no one in the either of the families knows how it started. In the story, Juliet says “What storm is this that blows so contrary? / Is Romeo slaughtered, and is Tybalt dead? / My dearest cousin and my dearer lord? / Then, dreadful trumpet, sound the general doom! / For who is living if those two are gone?”(III. ii. 65-69). This is Juliet finding out that Romeo, her lover and now husband, has killed Tybalt, one of her dearest cousins, over a fight that the two had. Even though Romeo killed her Cousin Tybalt, Juliet still worries about Romeo witch does say that she still loves Romeo, and this is a surprise given the circumstances. The fact that Juliet still loves Romeo shows how blindly in love she is with him, this is an example of how the two are not willing to change their mind. The evidence presented is another reason why the quick decisions that Romeo and Juliet make affect the outcome of the…

In the book of Romeo and Juliet you picture what the characters will look like. The movie shows their point of view of the characters. In the movie it shows the Montagues having a surfers characteristics. They wore a lot of beach shirts with palm trees on them. As we were reading the book I pictured them not as fancy as the Capulets but more casual type of clothing. I visioned Benvolio looking younger than Romeo and Mercutio from how the book described Benvolio. In the movie Benvolio looked a little older or the same age as Romeo. He also looked stronger than how I pictured Benvolio looking.…
