3-4 Summative Assessment I decided to put the fight and Tybalt’s death in between the wedding and the wedding night because I felt that it would add action and suspense. It worked out perfectly where Juliet had to test her love for Romeo and if it was worth it or not. Juliet had to decide whether her love for Romeo was strong and important enough even after he killed her dear cousin. I also put it in this order so the Montagues and Capulets would hate each other even more than they did before. This made it so the acceptance from Lord Capulet of Juliet’s love for Romeo would be much harder to receive, adding suspense and making things more dramatic yet emotional. I rewrote it this way so it would add an emotional affect to this scene. Most important so that Romeo had a real reason to kill Tybalt. If Romeo hadn’t killed Tybalt, then the story would be much different and would not have turned out the way I wanted to write it; therefore, Romeo needed to have an excuse for having revenge towards Tybalt. This also made the Prince’s punishment heart wrenching for Romeo because he had been banished. This made it so Romeo and Juliet really could not be together, adding a dramatic and emotional effect. In Brooke’s poem, the word choice I feel is a bit deeper, but in the process, it is descriptive yet gets to the point faster than in my writing. I wrote Act 3 Scene 1 lengthier and a tad more on the violent side. I did this so my audience could get a feel from everyone’s perspective of the fight. Unlike play wrights, poems are supposed to tell the story in an appeasing nature, but they are not necessarily supposed to be in full detail and descriptions about what is happening during each event. This is most of my reasoning for writing this scene differently from the poem. First off, a simile is used to compare two different things.
