Snowball: A Fictional Narrative
It was midway through summer. The hot, endless days that would soon be forgotten burrowed into my mind. My friends and I would get up in the cool dawn and play together. Swish. The basketball went in. The repeating thuds were all i could focus on. One, two, three they went on. The air got warmer and soon the blazing sun stung our skins as our sweat dripped down from our napes.
“Fuck it's hot”, Ryan bursted
“Just like you”, Ethan added
“I know”
“We trying do another round?” I said bouncing the ball. It filled my palms and the tiny bumps rubbed against my fingers satisfyingly. I stared at the hoop and spat on the scalding concrete. It had landed and the sun evaporated it.
We were going to resume our playing, but then a couple of guys who were

We scored two hoops then they scored three. I dribbled the ball up to the hoop then slammed it in. Ethan blocked the tall dude with his little body. The tall black boy then suddenly slammed Ethan down.
“Ahh, the fuck was that for man??” Ethan yelled
“Aye sorry man you just too small” the tall dude replied
“That don't matter for shit”
“Course it does” one if the other black guys said
We resumed the game. As we played again, a trend started to occur. The black boys played just a little too rough. I gave Ryan a look and he nodded. I threw the ball with the force of a thousand suns at the bald one if the group. Well, the shorter bald one.
“Oops ny bad dawg, you good?” I said
“Fuck you” he replied
He charged at me head first. His sweat made his dome glisten.
“Easy” I thought
I caught him head first and slammed him into the ground. By the time I got up the tall dude had seang by the neck and Ryan was holding up the other bald dude. Ethan had taken off his shirt and flung himself at the tall dude, toppling him over. Ethan was one crazy fucker, he swung faster than light at the dude’s face. I gave one guy some sweet chin music. Suddenly a stray basketball came into play and swept me off my feet. Klank! Most of the fight i was knocked out and by a basketball at that. I awoken in Seang’s car with Ethan, Ryan, and

It wasn’t just any snowball fight, it was THE snowball fight. We had fans, coaches, food when we get tired, everything! It was like we were playing a super bowl. So we started the fight. Billy and I missed our first shot. But when Billy hit his next shot, I saw it coming right at my face and I knew it was all over. I fell to the ground like a piece of paper slowly falling down. I was out cold, the last thing I remember hearing is Billy saying “Oscar watch out!”…

That summer afternoon, as I remember it, was doubtlessly a commemorable one. Breezy, yet humid. Bright yet shadowed by the monsters that the afternoon sun cast upon all things animate and inanimate. Even though my generation belongs to one of technology, I will always be gratified to be able to claim that my youth was still filled with sweaty foreheads and rusty old bikes.…

I'm tired and restless after a mentally draining day at school. There are blurred lights and angry drivers all around me as the tires of my car grind against the cold concrete. My dad pulls into the back parking lot and signals for me to get out of the car. I groan, knowing that I am in for a long practice, and slowly drag myself out of the front seat. I lug my hockey bags out of the trunk, and they become another nagging reminder of the grueling workout I'm about to face. My dad speeds away and I'm left alone, staring at the large, brightly lit building looming over me. The rink is in a low-income area, and beyond the cold, hard metal fence lies a dangerous neighborhood. The night air is warm and still,…

    Gavin's Short Story

The week before his big showcase, Gavin was at the park working hard to fine tune his game. He’d been dreaming about this moment for years, the day when he was leaving to play in the NBA’s annual rookie showcase game in New York. This park had become his home away from home, the clean air, without all the New York pollution bringing peace to his calculating mind. He loved the smell of the trees which reminded him of the pine smell of the forest near his house in New Jersey where he took long walks when he was feeling stressed out. The jangling of the ball swishing through the chain net was his favorite sound in the whole world. The thudding of the ball whenever he dribbled reminded him of the way his older brother used to thunder down the stairs before he left to join the army.…

It was her very first basketball game. Chase came with me to, my older brother, Nate’s basketball game. We arrived just as the Chelsea Hornets were getting ready. The warmth of the gym wrapped around our bodies, and the scent of teenage boy sweat filled our nostrils, making me almost retch. Chase sounded very excited when she asked me, “Where should we sit?” As any normal little girl would do, we both raced each other to the top of the blue high school bleachers and sat down in sync. My mom, little brother, Soren, and older sister, Lexi, followed behind the two of us while Nate ran out to the court to join his Chelsea Hornet basketball buddies. The game went on with the Hornets losing by seven points. Moms among the crowd were yelling about unjust fouls made towards their team.…

Most children grow up not knowing how the world works around them. They don’t understand why people are different from one other and they react differently to with jealousy or cruelty when someone is not like they are. In All Summer in a Day, by Ray Bradbury, the children are jealous and angry with Margot because she has experienced things in life they have not, so the kids treat her unfairly because of it. From the beginning of the story the kids never liked Margot and treated her cruelly. When she starts to tell the kids in her class how the sun is “like a fire in a stove” (Bradbury 1) she is cut off by a boy and told “you’re lying you don’t remember” (2). Another instance when she is treated horribly by the kids is when she is told to “speak when spoken to…” (3) by one of the boys in the class.…

Basketball is not a sport for everyone it takes a lot of dedication, strength, focus ,and teamwork. I have been playing basketball since I was seven years old. The love that I have for the game is indescribable, if by chance I could never play again, my soul would be a hollow lifeless shadow. From the Separating White Line I glance up at the scoreboard; the clock reads 15 seconds left in the fourth quarter. My team is down by 4 points; we have to score a three-pointer and have no time-outs left. I yell out the play for a three-pointer and a two-pointer, now the perfectly spherical ball is put in my hands. Taking a short glance to the clock I saw time was running out. The only objects I see are two tall defensive players bearing down on me. Somehow I release the ball, just in time as a defender tries to block my shot. Miraculously the ball finds its way into the hoop, with 6 seconds left and the clock stopped, the other team calls a timeout. I jog to our bench, my coach waiting on the sideline to discuss the most effective play for the situation.…

Unfortunately, Tom slipped on a puddle of water and fell flat on the cemented ground with a loud thud. Tom lay unconscious on the ground, motionless. Immediately, Sam dropped the basketball on the ground and looked on in speechless dread. He was panicking and shivering with fear after seeing blood oozing out from Tom’s forehead. With his trembling jelly like legs, Sam ran to the nearby public telephone booth to make a call for an ambulance.…
