Juliet's father wants her to marry another man, not knowing that she was already married. When Juliet refuses without explanation Capulet tells his daughter that she is ungrateful and spoiled. Juliet comes to Friar Lawrence in search of advice and they come up with a plan. Juliet will agree to be wed to Paris, but secretly take a sleeping potion on the eve of her wedding day, making her appear dead, then she will be carried out to her family's tomb and Romeo will meet her there when she awakes and they will run away together. But there is a slight snag in the plan when Romeo is not told that Juliet is not actually dead. He is devastated and goes to the tomb that “dead Juliet” was placed and commits suicide. Juliet awakens moments later and stabs herself when she finds her husband dead. Then Romeo and Juliet’s parents come to the tomb and find their dear children dead and Friar Lawrence tells them what has happened. “O brother Montague, give me your hand. However, in spite of the many differences, there are similarities between the two stories. Romeo and Juliet and “Teen Couple Executed by their Parents…for daring to fall in love,” both involve the deaths of the couples all happening at a young age, all of them dying before the age of 19 before any of their parents died. Throughout both stories a common factor is that the couples were forced to make adult decisions about their lives and love lives; while, the adults around them were making many poor decisions. Romeo and Juliet, a tragic play written by one of the most famous English writers, Shakespeare, in 1601, is one filled with many conflicts, even starting from the story's background. "From ancient grudge break to new mutiny" (Act I, Sc. 1). Conflicts, more often than not, end in tragedies. Romeo and Juliet having many conflicts, has also ended in a terrible tragedy, the death of the lovers. "... a pair of star-crossed lovers take their life..." (Act. I, Sc. I). Even before the play has begun, the prologue expresses one of the conflicts, between the two head families of Verona, the Capulets and Montagues. "Two households, both alike in dignity, in fair Verona (...) where civil blood makes civil hands unclean..." (Act I, Sc. I). Other conflicts which arise throughout the play include: status and love, peace and war, love and hate, amongst others. The two conflicts which seem to be prominent are the conflict between the families, and the conflict between youth and age. Although the discord between the families is more evident in the play, the tension between youth and age exists. However, the conflict between the families seems have more importance in the play. As the two conflicts, between the families, and between youth and age, become visible, and their results are more apparent, the greater importance of the variance between the families will be distinguished.…

"Sweet, sweet, sweet nurse, tell me, what says my love?" (RJ 2.5.55) In Zeffirelli's version of Romeo and Juliet, Act 2, Scene 5, Juliet seems bratty and impatient because the nurse fails to deliver the information about Romeo as soon as she walks through the door. Absolutely, I do think that we are in charge of our fate. Even though "destiny" and "fate" have similar meanings, they are very distinct in my opinion. Opportunities are presented to us by fate, but in the end, our choices define our fate. For example, it was fate if you met the ideal person at a party. However, your fate is in the actions you take.…

Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet portrays relationships in different ways to define and foreshadow the ending of the play; Romeo and Juliet’s death. The prologue sets up conflict by stating the ‘two’ rivalries, always referring to them in pairs ‘two households’ and ‘two foes’, otherwise known as the ‘Capulet’s’ and ‘Montague’s’. It sharpens the conflict as the play is set in ‘fair Verona’ and violence and death occur in a beautiful place. The emphases of oppositions in this play define the relationships, such as, Montague’s and Capulet’s, light and dark and love and hate. Due to the extent of antithesis, in the play Romeo and Juliet’s love grows in darkness and ‘stealth’.…

William Shakespeare once wrote, "Better three hours too soon than an hour too late (Windsor.II.ii). " The play, Romeo and Juliet, exemplifies the true meaning of this quote.
