Global average temperatures are projected to increase between 1.4 and 5.8 °C by the end of this century (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, 2001), and this, in conjunction with the increasing sea level, which, in itself, causes the number of individuals living in coastal areas to be exposed to increasing flooding and storm surges, affects human health. These affects are mostly brought on by climate change, which, ironically, is being heavily influenced by humans themselves. They can cause illness and fatalities from intense heat, a depleting food supply and also the alterations of infectious diseases.…

The problem is that, once global warming is something that most people can feel in the course of their daily lives, it will be too late to prevent much larger, potentially catastrophic changes,” Elizabeth Kolbert. For decades our world has been changing slowly, and we have felt the wrath of global warming. Recent hurricanes such as Ike, Wilma, Katrina, Rita, and now Sandy have caused many casualties, billions of dollars in damage and chaos to environments around the world. Most people think of this as a scientific fantasy, but it can be a huge danger for later generations. We can’t be egocentric and only think about us. Global warming isn’t only effecting us, but it’s also effecting animals. Some species might even go extinct because of global warming. We need to do something to prevent or at best slow the process down a bit. I believe it’s vital that we try to prevent because if the oceans keep rising they will take up the land we live. We need to invent technologies that can help us survive this; some countries such as Netherlands have done that. Preventing climate change will be difficult, but it’s…
