Global Warming will change our planet drastically yet under the benefit of cheap energy we do nothing to shrink our carbon footprints. Global warming is currently the most controversial issue. The debate over global warming has been going all around the world and it seems endless. Depending on one's political view, whether a person is a liberal or a conservative may consider global warming as the biggest challenge facing humanity or one may dismiss, saying it is not real or may simply claims global warming is a hoax. However, there are strong, credible evidences that indicate the extreme and unpredictable weather pattern we have been witnessing like extreme heat, drought, storm , retreating glaciers and the melting of the arctic sea ice, and rising sea level due to climate change caused by human activities. Governments and people around the world should hold hand in hand…

Controversy over global warming exists as a dispute regarding the nature and consequences of global warming. The theory of global warning as presented in the mainstream media currently assumes that carbon dioxide is an atmospheric greenhouse gas and since humans are producing more carbon dioxide than previously, the temperature must therefore rise. The cause of global warming is not actually known, but in it 's simplest terms the debate boils down to whether or not global warming is caused by human interference or part of a naturally occurring cycle. The debate has recently become one-sided in favor of human interference due mostly to three factors: political pressure on scientists to produce research that supports the global warming theory, public misconception of what scientific consensus is, and an irresponsible that media promotes sensationalized viewpoints to sell advertising.…

Global climate change is a topic that is research and data heavy. Theories cannot be proven and predictions cannot be justified without substantial research. Everyday something new comes out – oftentimes contradicting previous assumptions on the issue. Do we believe in everything presented? No. It is up to us to dissect which ones have substance and are fruits of true research. Critical thinking is required for we cannot blindly follow and believe what is said without forming our own conclusions. This does not assert our freedom as intelligent human beings. Global climate change is a big, important and substantial issue. Actions – what we do, what we believe in and especially what we know can all be a means to produce some kind of difference in the world. If we are too gullible and accepting, we will end up equipped with the wrong data and facts. Information is power and with the wrong information we are useless in bringing about actual change. Certain sectors of society – those who are educated and knowledgeable and those who can think critically can act as catalysts in reshaping the world. Therefore, properly concluding which are truths and fallacies is important especially when we want majority of the public to be well informed on the issue.…

Many Americans assume that global warming also known as climate change is nothing to be concerned with while the earth’s average temperature begins to rise. This is something that has always been very important to me from an environmental standpoint since we do not have a planet B. If we all play our part in making the world a more environmentally friendly place we may be able to delay the inevitable, In the meantime climate change is the biggest threat to humanity in the 21st century.…

I am not the only one thinking that our global climate change debate has gone wrong. Too many solutions are made in short term policies and our long term investing in a better and easier future is too little considered which jeopardizes our future economy. We have disturbed the climate, and accelerated temperatures faster than naturally. To adapt to these changes it is going to bring, we need collective action. The responsibility lies in the hands on the developed countries but it is not them who are hit hardest and first which leads to moral corruption such as rationalization, denial and postponing of solutions. The conventional grab bag of public motivation does not seem up to the task (Gardiner, 2011).…

Today I'm going to talk about the truth of global warming.I think most of you including me were believe global warming will happen and we cause this phenomena.Because from the News we know polar bears will extinct in 45 years and about thirty thousands of people were died in 2013 in Europe and India cause the high temperature. But after you do some reserch you will find that global warming dosen't exist. The scientists says that the reserch shows that the earth was hotter 1000 years ago than today and predict the temperature of the earth will be falling, not rising.Like Boston,it snowed several times and we felt super cold last winter. But this winter looks set to be even worse, there may have more snow and more lower temperature.A documentary film called "The Great Global Warming Swindle" says global warming is a lie and the biggest scam of this contemporary. It also point that global warming cause by solar activity which cycle activity of the sun's surface made earth becoming warm and cool in period, not human cause it.So if you are an environmentalist you should not blame us by this.By the way,do you know "The Copenhagen Climate Conference"?Some people think it is just a group of people who use global warming to help developed country to ask money from developing country. But it is just personal opinion. Finally, even we are not the cause of global warming, but we did do a lot of thing that could destroy our erath.I would like to appeal everyone to keep the environment mind in everyday life. It's often the simplest actions that have a great impact, isn't…

Although the author gives several supporting claims and examples to argue for his opinion, which is global warming is a good thing, I still cannot agree with his point of view, because some of the claims do not seem to be valid and need to be clarified further. First all, the writer states that coolings seem to be rapid, and cause disastrous downfalls of civilization, but we can cope with slow upward trends in temperature. It is true that too cold climate can provoke downfalls of civilization, but whether human can handle the slow upward trends in temperature is also questionable. Due to the tiny increase in temperature, there may be more frequent and intense weather events, such as hurricanes, tornados, tsunamis, blizzards and so on, which cause huge loss each year or even injuries and deaths. Actually, human do not have any effective way to prevent such kind of disasters till now. Secondly, in the writer’s point of view, one reason for global warming or greenhouse effect is good is that it keeps our earth warm. And the example of moon is given to show the importance of atmosphere. True, it is common knowledge that atmosphere keeps the earth warm; however, it has nothing to do with global warming. Generally, global warming only refers to temperature rising caused by human activities during a period of time, so the writer’s definition for global warming here is too broad. Thirdly, the writer argues that shifting of people caused by inundation is a continuing feature of history. And hence rise of sea level, caused by global warming, is normal and not that bad. I do not think we can just regard shifting as a continuing feature of history. More importantly, it is also disasters for people who are shifting. And inundation is just part of effects of global warming; other effects such as climate change and spread of pestilence are dangerous as well. Lastly, the author think some regions of our planet may need to be abandoned, while new zones habitability will become…

This course affects my understanding on environmental issues because the “greenhouse effect” or as “global climate change,” is widely recognized as one of the most important issues on the current international environmental agenda. Although the extent and timing of effects are uncertain, climate change is thought to have effects for parks including food and water supplies, energy production, ecosystem, species survival, human health, and social and political stability. Second, since people generally have little direct contact with global warming, it is probable that many rely on the mass media as a primary source of information about this topic. Third, this topic has generated considerable scientific and political controversy. Although there is now a large degree of scientific consensus that some degree of global warming is indeed occurring, there is less agreement about both the exact consequences of unchecked global warming and the consequences of strategies to mitigate negative effects. This allows considerable leeway for public confusion over the causes, consequences, and viability of possible solutions to the problem. In addressing the role played by mass communications in solving environmental problems such as global warming, a better grasp of what constitutes “understanding” of an environmental problem is clearly needed.…
