Romeo And Juliet Love
It only takes an average of three dates for men to fall in love, but on the other hand, it takes women about 14 dates. However in William Shakespeare's tragedy Romeo and Juliet’s case, it only took 1 glimpse before the main characters were arguably madly in love with each other. William Shakespeare was inspired to write his drama after reading The Tragical History of Romeus and Juliet by Arthur Brooke. William Shakespeare is also known for his 37 plays and 154 sonnets, as well as introducing 3,000 words to the English Dictionary. In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare writes about two young teens who immaturely fell in love which lead up to the point where neither of them could imagine a life without each other; resulting in a tragic end. Although Romeo’s actions appeared to be true love, his deed proves that their story is nothing more, but one of infatuation. This is shown when Juliet wakes up: “O happy dagger / This is thy sheath. There rust and let me die. / (stabs herself with Romeo's dagger and dies.)” (5.3169-171). So when Juliet wakes up from her drugged sleep, she too kills herself. Infatuation is defined as a foolish and usually extravagant passion, love, or admiration. Then there’s Romeo and Juliet who had both made the extravagant, highly foolish decision of killing themselves so they wouldn’t have to be apart after knowing each other for 5 days. In conclusion knowing someone for five days and killing oneself for them is too aberrant to be true love. Due to their hasty choices and irrational decisions, Romeo and Juliet's fateful story was full of nothing more than infatuation. Their story was definitely one of misfortune and bad timing; which had also contributed to their fatal demise. Maybe if Romeo and Juliet had met under different circumstances, or made more rational decisions their story would have a happier ending; which could’ve eventually resulted in true love. However their life has already happened, and there’s nothing to do about it at this point, but learn from their
