Response To Ee Tomings
After reading all of the poems I sense a common theme. Of trying to understand the world and the restrictions it has on us. Even in things or events that we have no control over. Also our reactions to the change of weather for better. Or the things not known by others in certain exceptions of life. My response to the poem Sarah Cleghorn’s “the golf links lie so near the mill” is that even thou people can play they can’t always do so. Even if it is so close that they can feel it. In most of our lives there are things we want to do but can’t due to restrictions. Either our job takes up our lives or we don’t have jobs. Sure it is always there that we could say today I’m going to play versus work but what would the consequences be. That the rich

E. Cummings “in Just” is that once summer hits it feels like freedom for most people in that the children are playing. But there is always someone working even in the nice seasons of the year. As the balloon man is always whistling his tune as summer hits. As the children are playing hopscotch and other various celebrations and actions. Also the form of the poem got me a little confused because it is so loose and less restricted as the other poems maybe do to the freedom. My response to the poem Linda Pastan’s “Marks” is that everyone has their own expectations. But everyone else has judgments of how you do everything in this poem every on in the household has their opinion of how the mother is doing her job. It slowly goes through each important family member to the next slowly getting more down grated. But secretly the mother has plans of leaving that the family does not know about. It is all what a person sees on the surface that counts. I thought that all of these poems were very interesting. In that these are concepts that most people do not think about. That society has limitations that we might be able to overcome. But sometimes we do get freedom and we love it when we do. We strive to be free that is not always the
