BADANI BLOCK

LOCATION
The Badani Block (Latitude 28°06’ to 28°20’ N and Longitude 69°22’ to 69°36’ E) is 35” 04” 45” 10” scattered on an area of 374.52 Sq. Kms. in the northern part of the Sind Province in the Central Indus Basin of Pakistan. The Indus River passes through the center and north east of the block. The Badani area is adjoined with the Khandkot and Kashmore by a road, apart from these roads access can be made along canals, tracks and forestry fire breaks.

GEOLOGICAL SETTING:
This block is part of the Central Indus Basin, which is part of the Indian Plate. The Indian Plate drifted from Gondwana during Mesozoic and collided with the Eurasian Plate in Early Tertiary, initiating fold belt development and creating frontal depressions and troughs in the vicinity of the collision zone and north and northwesterly tilted platform on the distal side of the plate. Some rifted features were developed in southeastern part of the Indian Plate due to the anti clockwise rotation in the north and northwesterly compressing plate, Sukker Rift Zone is one of them.

The two geological structures Khand-Kot-Qadirpur High and the Mari Structures passes through this block. The relationship between Mari and Khandkot High is very complex and interference between the two is anticipated to set up structural closures with in the Badani Block. The Wrench faulting that is oriented in NNW-SSE appears to be a response to the Sinistrial Strike Slip regime, which was induced by the
