New York Times best selling author, radio host, and Fox News contributor, Tammy Bruce, wrote an article called “Why Gun Control Won’t End Mass Murders.” Bruce’s purpose is to inform readers that gun control laws are not going to stop murders from occurring. She adopts a grim tone in order to get her readers to think about why the gun laws are the way they are. For years the government has been trying to enforce gun laws and yet murders rates are not decreasing. Some points Bruce addresses include mass shootings, liberals, and the Mayo Clinc’s statistics towards drugs. Tammy Bruce was not successful in getting her point across.…

Government assumes that if society confines gun control that criminal activity will be reduced, however, offenders generally aim for victims who are unarmed. This would make it effortless for the criminal to assault a bystander while it leaves the victim vulnerable.Controlling weapons will not keep them out of felon’s hands. Each individual has the entitlement to protect themselves against unjustified acts. Righteous residents would have a sense of security knowing that firearms could be carried legally for his or her own protection and safety. School shootings in general are tragic, because they often affect innocent victims and almost always could have been prevented. In the given scenario Harless actions are in fact unstoppable, but the actions of the faculty are quite the opposite. The school went about the situation completely wrong. Instead of confronting the students once notified they are possibly in possession of a firearm, they should have notified law enforcement, worked to secure the area then isolate Harless and McCoy. In this situation, the boys are both criminals and victims but the issues they experienced at home or in the past do not and will never justify their actions. Per the list of symptoms given on the U.S Department of Veterans affairs website I do not believe they are suffering from PTSD, but I would also point out not enough back ground was given to support or deny the claim. I find that 10 years served is not equivalent to a person’s life in addition to the countless others affected by Harless’s actions. If kids are getting 10 years for smoking pot the scales that the blind lady of justice is using are off balanced. This whole scenario is wrong in my book…

senior editor of USA today and Mother Jones stated that in 2002, there was a mass shooting that happened in Appalachian School of Law in Virginia. The killer was stopped by armed students, but those students were current and former law enforcement officers. Also, the killer was out of bullet when they subdued him. (More guns More mass shootings) This shows no matter how responsible the gun owners are, if they don’t know how to handle the life threatening situations, it becomes more dangerous because increasing the number of guns only creates more volatile and explosive situations. So I think having firearms at home is dangerous to kids but also useless when you really need it. Then supporters of the second amendments will say, gun laws won’t…

Despite the evidence found that gun control in fact could decline crime, some individuals refuse to believe so. One of those individuals is, Kit Daniels, a Texas journalist. Daniels in his article “10 reasons why gun control will not work” argues that putting a restriction on gun laws will not stop mass killings or gun related deaths nationwide, because individuals who are set out kill will find a way around these restrictions. Daniels then proceeds to argue that a limit on obtaining guns is a violation to the second amendment (Daniels). The argument that Daniels argues which is that gun control will not abolish mass shootings is accurate to an extend. As Daniels argues individuals who want are set out to kill others will proceed to do so.…

Hilary Clinton says that she plans to power background checks and close high-risk loopholes in our country. She also wants to make gun sellers and makers accountable for guns being in the hands of terrorists, domestic abusers, and other violent criminals. As I quote she says, “I don’t know how we keep seeing shooting after shooting, read about the people murdered because they went to Bible study or they went to the movies or they were just doing their job, and not finally say we’ve got to do something about this.” This is so true we hear about shootings after shootings all over the world. People would say shootings only happen in bad neighborhoods, and ghettos. That is so not true gun violence is happening everywhere and this needs to be stopped.…

Columbine, Sandy Hook, and Virginia Tech, all have something in common. When you hear these, you probably think “mass shooting.” You may even remember where you were when you heard the news, or, when you were told the story. Many people claim that guns are not the issue and mental issues are the only reason these tragedies occur. However, when you take an unstable person with psychological issues and combine that with a weapon, the outcome cannot be anything short from disastrous.…

Guns do a lot of bad, but do a lot more good for society. Banning guns will not stop the problem, but will just make it worse. Guns are apart of our society as Americans they have been around since colonial years, and are not leaving anytime soon. “The number of guns in America has increased by more than 50 percent since 1993, and in that same period the gun homicide rate in the United States has dropped by half. (Kristof, The Times).” Guns offer protection for individuals. One day you could be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and a shooting breaks out, you will pray there is someone else there with a concealed firearm to help control the situation while waiting for police to arrive. They can’t do that if guns are banned. “We need to understand that we cannot stop crimes and murders. And banning guns would be a step, or two, backwards instead of moving forward in the right direction (The Times News).” The research conducted to produce this paper was drawn from a multitude of sources all with different…

Violent shootings are becoming more and more popular in the United States. Last year there were 58,543 shooting incidents. There were 1,956 incidents where it was a self-defense case. There were also 2,552 home invasion cases and 2,201 of the shooting incidents were unintentional, which does make a whole lot of sense to me because I don’t know how you accidentally shoot somebody. However, 384 of these shooting incidents were classified as mass shooting incidents. That means there was a mass shooting everyday last year, which is a pretty scary thing to think about (Past Summary Ledgers).…

Each year, a number of people die from guns. The popular saying is “guns do not kill people, people kill people” which is true; however, guns are used to aid in violence and many would argue that eliminating guns through stricter laws would decrease violence. As the number of gun owners in the world increases the government and its citizens would benefit from implementing stricter regulations regarding the safe keeping of guns in the home. The lack of gun safety results in the ability to access these guns with distressing outcomes. While many individuals argue that guns need to be restricted within the United States, the real argument is for allowing the Constitutional right to bear arms while implementing stricter laws to ensure these firearms do not fall within the wrong hands.…

Because of people’s lack of gun safety in America, a very good amount of children have harmed themselves and others. Children should not touch guns, should know that it is a very dangerous weapon that can and will kill someone, should not have access to them, and should not even be around them. Although others think that it is better for their child to remain ignorant or even keep a loaded gun around, it does more harm than good for the children of America. If everyone were to live by, and practice gun safety in their homes, there could be no more harm done to children or anyone else due to…
