Mass Shooting Prevention
How Can we Prevent Mass Shootings Columbine, Sandy Hook, and Virginia Tech, all have something in common. When you hear these, you probably think “mass shooting.” You may even remember where you were when you heard the news, or, when you were told the story. Many people claim that guns are not the issue and mental issues are the only reason these tragedies occur. However, when you take an unstable person with psychological issues and combine that with a weapon, the outcome cannot be anything short from disastrous.
A common phrase said about this subject is “Guns don't kill people. People kill people.” But, why do people kill people in a mass setting? Here is a quote from Psychology Today. “We have found that personality disorders in mass murderers are often a mixture of antisocial, paranoid, narcissistic, and schizoid traits—someone who habitually engages in criminal behavior, is suspicious of others’ actions, is

It is the dangerous combination of the two. If a gun is not difficult to purchase, or difficult to steal from a family friend, people who want to kill mass crowds will find a way to do it.
We can make guns illegal, or we can give everyone in America a gun. People with the wrong intentions for weapons can easily steal a gun from someone who has the right intentions. Regardless of how we handle it, terrible situations will still happen. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to be as careful and safe as possible.
In order to prevent mass shootings, we need to be more cautious. We need to raise awareness for mental health to where it’s as important as physical health. Guns should not be as easy to purchase as they are today. Mental illnesses should be discussed more openly, and not used as an excuse for violent people. Putting metal detectors in all large public places would help. Most important of all, we should pray for Gods protection over not only this nation, but the whole

If I was provided the authority to reduce gun violence I would make it an appoint to make everyone who were trying to purchase a gun complete a background check. This way you have a track record of the person who’s attempting to purchase some of the most dangerous weapons. I would also make sure anyone who is suffering from mental illness also become flagged in my background system. Make sure that all gun stores and licensed weapons are passed on to law enforcement when lost or stolen. These mass shooting are occurring mainly due to mental illnesses of the deranged suspects. People who were war veterans and came home mentally ill and unstable have snapped. These type of individuals have easy access to dangerous weapons.…

A few things that to help prevent School Shootings but failed would be the zero tolerance policy. The zero tolerance policy is preventing drugs and weapons being brought onto school property. But many students get away with it because they bring weapons to school hidden in their backpacks without anyone noticing, then they cause a tragedy, “Schools are not safer, or more educational because of zero tolerance policies.”(Nick Gillespie 4). This policy doesn't change anything so why have this policy when no one notice who enters school with weapons. We need a stronger system to prevent this from happening.…

First of all, letting people make uncontrolled gun purchases creates a dangerous and chaotic environment for other people. In my opinion, people having gun with them are so many that, it is dangerous to wander in public places such as; streets and parks, because when people especially 18 or 19 year old people have guns, anything can happen anytime. If we consider the rate of young people with guns increase every other day, inevitable events occur. For example, at the premiere of "Batman" in Colorado in summer 2012, a 24 year old gunman opened fire on the people in the theater in the middle of the movie and killed 12 people there. In fact, that is when the government started to consider the gun laws, but the issue is still suspended.…

Another way to end the mass shootings that happen throughout our country would be to limit/eliminate the amount of time the media spends on the topic. The media, since its beginning, has turned criminals into idols by showcasing their faces on newspapers, magazine, and every news channel, which gives them the…

Despite the evidence found that gun control in fact could decline crime, some individuals refuse to believe so. One of those individuals is, Kit Daniels, a Texas journalist. Daniels in his article “10 reasons why gun control will not work” argues that putting a restriction on gun laws will not stop mass killings or gun related deaths nationwide, because individuals who are set out kill will find a way around these restrictions. Daniels then proceeds to argue that a limit on obtaining guns is a violation to the second amendment (Daniels). The argument that Daniels argues which is that gun control will not abolish mass shootings is accurate to an extend. As Daniels argues individuals who want are set out to kill others will proceed to do so.…

Many places in the world have high gun ownership which leads to more deaths. “ A new study finds that places with higher ownership of guns also results in more firearm- related deaths” (livescience.org). This study shows that many places with high gun ownership tend to have more firearm deaths, due to the high ownership of guns. In addition, high ownership of guns can ruin society, causing more deaths and more violent crimes. “Higher ownership of guns in a state is linked to more firearm robberies, more firearm assaults and more homicides in general” (livescience.org). As mentioned in the above paragraph, instead of deaths, there are many situations where high ownership will cause other problems like robbery, homicides, murder and sexual assault;…

Meindl, PhD and Jonathan W. Ivy, PhD also discusses this topic. This article argues how mass shootings are a particular problem in the United States, with one mass shooting occurring approximately ever 12.5 days. They feel that these people do it due to gang activity or family slayings. My question is why do these people feel the need to kill or injure other people if they did no harm to them? As one mass shooting happens another one should be planned to happen in the near future why is this? There is really no explanation why someone would want to commit a similar act like…

We need strict gun control laws to stop the mass shooting. The most recent mass shooting that I can remember is the Orlando nightclub shooting. The Orlando nightclub shooting happens on Sunday, June 12, 2016, in Orlando. There were 49 people died and 53 people wounded. My heart is broken when I hear stories of the mass shooting like this happen in our country. According to an article called “Could more gun control have stopped 2015's deadliest mass shootings?” the writer claim that “A Guardian analysis of the 20 shootings with the most fatalities in 2015 found that most gunmen obtain their weapons legally. But had a range of proposed federal reforms designed to strengthen gun laws been in place, many of these mass shootings could have been less likely to have happened. In nine of the 12 cases where information was available, tougher laws could have prevented killers from obtaining their guns.” Most of the guns that are used for mass were purchased legally in the stores. Many people are mentally unstable and shouldn’t be able to purchase a gun. It is so easy for these crazy killers to purchase a gun. It isn’t safe for other people when these people can own a gun. Many of mass shooting in the United States happens in school and public places. Schools should be a place where students go to get their education. Students should feel and be safe in school. School should be a place of drug and gun free zone. People who break these rules should face severe federal, state and local criminal penalties. In the United States, we have the most mass shooting than in any other country in the world. In an article called” After Mass Shootings, Action On Gun Legislation Soars At State Level” the writer said “While it's true that Congress has failed to pass new gun laws after mass shootings, despite Democrat-staged sit-ins, presidential pleas and other vocal efforts, the sense that nothing…

These shootings have to stop and when they do happen I feel like everyone should know about this tragedy that keeps recurring in our country. Many shootings happen daily and only a few make it to the headlines or are major on social media. But all of these shootings need to be stopped or we need a new way for people to protect themselves at all times in case of a shooting.Last year there wasn’t even eight days that went by without a shooting…

There has been a huge rise of school shootings in the last few years. Just in single school year there was about 336 gunshots at a DC school district (“School Shootings”). How is that even possible that so much shootings can occur. There were also shootings in colleges and high schools. Most of this shootings occurring in schools are on the Eastern Coast. In a map shown on “School Shootings in America since 2013” you can see there is a higher rate on that side of the country than any of the others. Decreasing all these school shootings would have a huge impact on everyone. It would make every parent feel safe about sending their kids to school knowing that their kids will be okay and come home safe. In the article “Analysis of School Shootings” there was 160 in at least between 2013-2015. There were 84 shootings in K-12 and 76 in college or university settings. That was across 38 states in the United states. That is way too much and that was all over the U.S. a few more states and it would have been in every single state. There have been some school shootings that have really impacted not just families but the whole country. For example, the Sandy Hook shooting was one that had the biggest impact. That was one of the deadliest school shootings in history. We as a country have to work together to decrease all these fatal shootings killing innocent children. Banning guns would be the main source in decreasing school…

In America the uses of guns are present in our society since dawn of time. In discussions it is always a controversial issue between both sides. However it seem being a holder of a firearm only bring consequences and with gun control policy it seemed nothing has changed. Gun violence is a problem and gun control laws for guns has no influence on crime commit by gun, it is just allowing gun violence to spread. Many death topics are heavily related to uses of guns as such homicide, suicide, and many more. America gun control is not a solution, guns serve more about killing than protecting lives. What is needed for reducing gun violence is more laws for restrictions on gun, less the availability of obtaining guns, less productions of guns. It may not stop the violence, but at least it would reduce rather than increasing.…
