Real Cowboy Research Paper
They say a real cowboy is the man taking care of his cattle and horses at 3 in the morning and in the freezing cold, before anything else. That saying pretty much says everything about my life. I may not be the kind of cowboy you expect, because I don’t have a horse. I do know how to lasso and I know my way around a cow just like a cowboy out west would. But the ways I’ve grown up doing have changed me into the man I am today. Since I was little I’ve been out around the cows. Some of my earliest memories are being in the hay loft and throwing hay down to the cows. Then sitting on his lap in the skid loader scooping manure up. In more recent years I have been showing cows and boy are they a lot of work. Washing them at least two times a day, feeding them, then walking them, We even have to blow dry them. I have worked with my heifer so much this year that she follows me around like a puppy. The more I work with cows the harder worker I become. To most people a newborn calf or piglet is cute, but they don’t realise the work they are. Sometimes a mother cow won’t accept her calf, and it’s what you’ve been wanting for a long time cause you want to bottle feed a calf. Sometimes it’s hard for the calf to figure out you’re trying to feed it, so you have to kind of force it. You have to be gentle but firm so you don’t hurt

Death on a farm always comes when you don’t expect it. A death of one of my animals makes me stop and think that we only have a limited time here. Sometimes you stop and think about what you could have done. Like one time one of my pigs died from pneumonia, I thought for a month on how i could have saved him. I could’ve noticed the sickness quicker and told dad to get the vet. Truth is, I thought it was just an ordinary cough at first and I thought he would get over it. I was wrong and I paid the price. I know to pay better attention and tell dad when I notice something
