Many states have made it illegal to drive with an handheld cell phone in your hand. That law should be enforced in all 50 states. That law should be enforced in all 50 states because car accidents are the leading cause of death with teens in the United States (US). Meaning that such law could actually end up being a life saver. That law can and will make the road a saver place to travel. Texting while driving and Drunk driving is very dangerous, it almost doubles the chance to get into a car accident. So a such law will almost double the safety of the road. Driving while texting is so dangerous and some people don't even recognize how dangerous it is. That is a simple task that can save a lot of life's. In a way to not have this as a law in your state is like not arresting people for man slaughter or attempted murder, because many people die from car accidents. in those car are driven by people to busy on their phones to even look up. It is a good law to pass for it to be illegal to drive with a handheld phone in your hand. It doubles the safety of the road when followed; So the law isn't hurting anyone while helping everyone. One having to wait to text someone back until the car is in park is not going to kill anyone; While texting someone back while driving can kill someone and have killed many. Texting and driving is a big deal over looked over and over again. The law making it illegal to drive while having a handheld cell phone in your hand is good one. Its truthfully better than some laws of some states. this law doesn't hurt anyone, while helping everyone. When driving becomes more dangerous the a gun its time to do something about it, and this law brings about the perfect solution.     The number of people who have been affected by texting and driving is dramatically increasing. Clearly the laws, punishments, and education up to this point have not done much to change how people view texting and driving. Due to the facts that have been revealed about texting and driving, it is imperative that the government takes strong action to fight this rising epidemic. Although it may be near impossible to keep people off their phones, it is vital that stricter laws are put against it. Law enforcement, including police and the judicial system must put their foot down and stand by it. All ages must be targeted as well. Even though older people may think they are more experienced behind the wheel, accidents can happen and they should not be able to use their phones either. It should also no longer be a question whether it is a safe time to pick up the phone and send a quick text. The punishments must be toughened, forcing people to face harder consequences if caught texting while driving behind the wheel. License suspension would be a strong preventive in order for people to keep both hands on the wheel.
