We believe gay marriage should be legalized because religion shouldn’t be a limiting factor due to the freedom of religion in this country, the Supreme Court deemed marriage essential to the orderly pursuit of happiness and homosexual’s relationships are similar to our own. Religion should not be a limiting factor for gay marriage due to the freedom of religion. Conservatives should not be permitted to impose their religious ideas on others who do not share them. Same-sex marriage has no logical impact on the everyday lives of religious conservatives, but religious conservatives denying same-sex marriage couples the right to marry does have a direct impact on the everyday lives of homosexuals. While we are a democracy, we are also a country that was assembled for the very purpose of protecting all American citizens despite their belief, opinion, or lifestyle. The Supreme Court deemed marriage essential to the orderly pursuit of happiness. It is a fundamental right of all individuals and the Court has recognized this at least 14 times before. All of us need friends and lovers of whatever orientation that allows us to be happy and most who we are. Marriage has traditionally been an attractive option for people because it can provide stability and the respect of society in general. Homosexual’s relationships are similar to our own. Gays have lives and homes together, they are raising children, they have jobs, they pay bills, they run errands, and they experience together many of the joys and sorrows and laughter of life as a family in America. Gay marriage should be legalized because religion should not be a limiting factor, the Supreme Court deemed marriage essential to the orderly pursuit of happiness, and homosexual’s relationships are similar to our own. Other people’s beliefs are not superior to anyone else’s. As humans, we need love whether it is with a man or a woman. It contributes to society’s overall happiness. Gays and lesbians relationships are the same as ours. The only difference is that one relationship is acceptable by societal standards and one is not.
