Gay Marriage has quickly become a significant topic in today’s society. Leading to many different discussions of homosexuals having the rights to marry. Most people are opposed to gay marriage, stating it will interfere with the Bible’s concept of marriage which is one man and one woman (Genesis 2.3). Also stating how it can interfere with the reproduction of mankind. Everyone in our society in entitled to happiness and should be entitled to equal rights. The definition of marriage to most people and the Bible is of one man and one woman. Marriage should be about being with someone who makes you happy, so why should the role of gender matter? Then homosexuals should all be given the equal right to pursue happiness and marry each other. Not allowing homosexuals to marry is considered a form of discrimination. If our country has fought so hard against discrimination, why do people turn them into a minority group and not respect their rights? Homosexuals are law-abiding citizens as well who deserve the same respect heterosexuals receive. There have been studies that show that homosexual couples last longer than heterosexual couples. In 2011 a study by UCLA’s Williams Institute it reported that the rate at which homosexual couples divorced was 2% annually, and 1.1% of homosexuals ended their relationships. In conclusion to gay marriage they are all human and deserve equal rights. They deserve to be treated just like everyone no matter what gender. Just because religion institutions rule out gay marriage, the government should not deny homosexuals their rights, they all deserve to be happy.
