Introduction to Formwork
• Formwork is a structure which is usually temporary or part permanent, it is used to contain poured concrete to mould it into required dimensions & support until it is able to support itself. • Formwork has been in use since the long time.
• New materials such as steel, plastics and fiberglass are used in formwork, greater attention is being given to the design, fabrication, erection and dismantling of formwork

•Should be rigidly constructed ,efficiently propped and braced both horizontally and vertically, so as to retain its shape.

•Construction of formwork should permit removal of various parts in desired sequences without damage to the concrete.
•The material of the formwork should be cheap, easily available and should be suitable for reuse.
•The formwork should be set accurately to the desired line and levels should have plane surface. •It should be as light as possible.
