political spectrum
People use the political spectrum to evaluate where they are politically, whether they are more liberal or conservative. The right, or conservative, side of the political spectrum consists of the republicans while the left, or liberal, side consists of the democrats. I tend to lean toward the left liberal side of the political spectrum, although sometimes I agree with conservative ideas as well. Although I agree with some of the conservative ideas, I am a center-left moderate social libertarian, meaning that I agree with more liberal ideas than conservative ideas. The left and liberal side of the political spectrum consists of ideas more about equal opportunities. It is also more socialist, meaning more governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods. The right and conservative side consists of republicans and they rely more on ideas of a strong military and more nationalism, or loyalty and devotion to one’s nation. I agree with the more liberal side of topics such as abortion, gun control, and same-sex marriage. Liberalist's believe that a woman has the right to decide what happens with her body, and that the decision to have an abortion is a personal choice of a woman and the government must protect this right. I agree with the liberalists beliefs on this because a woman should have the right to do what she feels is best since it is her body. I also agree with liberalists' when it comes to the issue of gun control. Liberalist's support the ideas that individuals do not need guns for protection, and that it is the role of the government to protect the people. They believe that more guns means more violence and that additional gun control laws are necessary to stop gun violence and limit the ability of criminals to obtain guns. I support liberalists on this issue as well because I feel that stricter laws are about the topic of gun control and who can obtain them, the less violence will occur. I support what

We have discussed gun control briefly in class but I believe that gun control is perfect depiction of conservatives vs. liberals. It seems that most Democratic congressmen believe in banning or restricting all use of guns, while more Republican congressmen support the right to bear arms. I now understand what the discussion of gun control really entails and I have learned enough to argue for or against it. Now understanding how many different arguments are being made supporting or opposing this popular topic, it is easy to see why this has grown to be so controversial.…

With the rising mass murders across the country, many citizens are wondering if we need more gun control. Pro gun control advocates are saying it is necessary for three reasons of many: high capacity magazines, suicide rates, and active gun laws having loopholes. Anti-gun control advocates are saying it is not necessary because of the decrease in homicide, mental state of murderers, and the right to self defense. Citizens are not just taking sides too, so are presidential candidates. Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton is for pro- gun control, and Donald Trump, a Republican candidate, is for anti-gun control.…

Until today, Americans have not reached consensus on gun-control laws. People who disagree with stricter laws have been saying that "more guns help protect citizens" because with guns they can defend themselves. However, people who support more restrictive regulations claim that loose gun-control leads to an insecure society ("Gun Control"). Because both sides have persuasive reasons for or against gun-control laws, we should implement moderate regulations to find a common ground instead of polarizing the…

If I were to describe my political ideology, I would consider myself mostly liberal with some independent views. I believe in equality for everyone, regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, etc. I think Americans need to be a little more accepting, and open to reaching out and helping those in need. This country needs to continue moving forward and growing, and I do not see that happening with a conservative in charge.…

Let’s take the Liberal side first and let us examine how they view gun control. First of all the liberals believe that the 2nd amendment doesn’t give citizens the right to bear arms; rather it gives the state the ability to keep a militia or in common terms a national guard. They don’t want citizens to have guns for protection they believe that local and federal law enforcement and military are in place for these reasons. They strongly…

These are the people who look for things to be equal. They would like for gun laws to be stricter, while not having their rights violated too much. A person should be able to own a gun if they are going to use it solely for protection. We don’t know what every person is going to use their gun for. Some may use it for protection; others may use it for crime. However, that’s when the more strict background checks come to play. You have the right to purchase a weapon, but are you mentally stable to own one? The government giving stricter background checks will determine…

In particular, we want to see all Americans, including gun owners, treated equally under the law, as our Constitution requires (Neale). As Libertarians, we believe that Americans have the right to decide how they want to protect their property, their families, and themsleves. Gun ownership, does not harm people and cannot justify criminal penalties. A man with a gun in his own home is not a threat to anyone unless someone is breaking into the man’s house. Guns are not the problem, they are inanimate objects. The responsibility belongs with the owner and user of the gun. Rather than banning guns, the Libertarian Party encourages gun ownership, as well as education and training programs…

Studies demonstrate that expanding legal access to weapons results in fewer crimes yet liberals push firearm control on the grounds that it builds the reliance of voters on government for assurance and protection. The political impact of firearm control is to move voters leftward, and henceforth the essential people who support gun control are the liberal media and radical politicians. Gun control is limitation or denial by the government of the privilege to armed self-defense, as assured by the Second Amendment of the United States of America Constitution. Genocide had happened when gun control initially disarmed the…

Gun control is one of the hot topics in today's political standings. The liberal point of view hates guns, while most conservatives like them. Most people who have negative opinions on gun’s are the people who have never used a gun in their life. All they know is people can die if they are shot. Realistically, what happens when violence is taking place? Someone with a gun is called. Gun control should not be enacted because it takes away a sense of security, most guns used in a crime are bought illegally anyway, and America was built on gun rights.…

Phoebe Maltz Bovy from New Republic proposed the solution of banning all guns. This position is a new position on gun control and would be considered far left. They feel very strongly about their right to own a fire arm and believe strongly that gun control laws only restrict the rights of law abiding citizens. People who support gun control laws feel that guns are the primary cause of violent crime in America, and that stricter gun laws will help keep guns off the streets and prevent crime. Even though gun control laws are getting more restrictive, they have not proven…
