Poem 1: The Red Wheelbarrow
Poem 1: The Red Wheelbarrow I like this poem because it is extremely random to the point that it is funny. It makes me giggle every time I read it. I always wonder what was going through his head when the author wrote it. One aspect I don't like about it though is that it is too hard to understand. For most poems, I could think about them for a while and eventually come up with some sort of deeper meaning or analysis. However, for this poem, I could think about it for days and still be as confused as I was the first time I read it. I'm not sure if it even has a deeper meaning. Maybe Williams was bored one day and decided to write a poem about nothing, just to make people confused everytime they read it. The ambiguity of this poem makes it entertaining to read because it can be interpreted in so many different ways. Some may believe it has a specific and deep meaning, while others (myself included) may believe it has no meaning at all.

It is an entertaining read with a good message that is easy to understand. Most poems are hard to analyze; the message is often hidden and needs to be discovered. In this poem, the message is extremely obvious. I liked being able to read this poem without having to think too hard about what it meant. I was able to enjoy it and discover the lesson without much work at all. I also like this poem because the message is very strong; go after something you want before it is too late. The author has a huge regret about his life and we, the readers, are able to learn from his mistake. Being a young adult, I still have still have many important events and decisions in front of me. “Nineteen” helps me to realize that if I don't seize an opportunity, it may not come again and I may regret it for the rest of my

The complexity of William Carlos Williams’, The Red Wheel Barrow, can be disregarded as simple at first if read as a sentence but once it is broken down into stanzas a few words make it stand out. The specifics of color brings the reader closer to what is going on in the picture Mr. Williams is attempting to paint. It broadens the reader’s ability to relate to the scene. It leaves you wondering what depends so much upon the red wheel barrow.…

In the prose, The Red Wheelbarrow, a rain slicked red wagon with a broken wheel, desolate and decrepit, stands sombrely in the tawny-patterned mud. It is a rather simplistic image that evokes the sense of a worn down agricultural household;slowly, diminishing along as the red wheelbarrow rusts in the rain. But, how could the speaker present such a mundane idea so brilliantly, so intensely, so eloquently? Simply. He performs it simply. Through a sadden tone, William Carlos Williams illustrates the image of a broken down agricultural-based household by monosyllabic color-based diction and short meter structures.…

Williams drags this poem on by creating an interest with the reader in his first line, “so much depends”. Williams does not reveal what he is talking about until the 4th line which is just one word; “barrow”. The fact that Williams splits the word “wheel” from the word “barrow” makes the reader visualize that the wheelbarrow is composed of two different and distinct parts. He also does this in lines 5 and 6 with “rain” and “water”. Williams ends the poem suggesting that the red wheelbarrow is beside white chickens. Again, Williams carefully describes the chickens as being “white”. The Red Wheelbarrow is a free verse poem that is composed of only one sentence. I believe the main purpose of this poem was to show imagery in the most minimalist…

The true beauty of this poem for me, and what makes it so enigmatic, is the mutual recognition in a person, between two moments past and future, of one's frame of mind at the other moment. We are so long in time, that such connections are very, very rare, and to have a moment of empathy with one's future or past self is both to gain a momentary insight into the nature of life and aging, and to momentarily gain a new internal context to how we perceive the aging of others, and what it really means to…

It’s your last couple of years to be truly a kid. Once you're 18 you are seen as an adult and you are one legally being seventeen. Each poem describes what it is like to be seventeen. At seventeen a person gains more responsibility but still has a lot of freedoms, they are still young enough to have big dreams and admirations. The adult world has not changed them yet, there is still a sense of innocence that remains within them. They have not become jaded. They still have time to go on adventures, see the world, to live life to the fullest, and to just be a kid before they have to settle down. Both the songs and poems emphasize that kids who treat this age shouldn’t try and hurry to be an adult. Their time will come. They should appreciate the time they have to be a kid, and use this time to learn about the world and themselves.Time flies and if they don’t take advantage of their youth, they may regret in the future. People always wish they could go back to this time of their lives, to be a carefree youth again, so it’s important for 16 and 17 year olds to realize how fortunate they are to still have the rest of their lives to look forward to. They should live in the now instead of racing towards the future because they will never get this time…

What made this poem my favorite work of literature in this class is that no one person in this world of ours is important except the ones that are close to us. This poem puts one of the hardest concepts in our world of the circle of life into fun little poem. This poem explains to us that it does not matter where you are from or who you are at the beginning or end of your world, it will all be the same for you and the world will not stop around but will continue and grow even…

My analysis of the poem and what it means to me is that in the first stanza I think it is about a father when he comes back home and he has been drinking, and then starts to dance with his son and they were doing the waltz dance. In the seconded stanza it shows what the mother’s point of view and focus is that she does not like what she is seeing that they are causing so much commotion the pots and pans are falling off the shelf. In the third stanza it states that his father has an injury on his knuckle, and every time his father misses a step the son’s ear hits his belt buckle. In the fourth stanza it talks about how his hands are dirty so he must have a tough job and then the danced to the sons bed and then when put to bed the son holds on to his father’s shirt because he doesn’t want to go to bed he wants to keep playing.…

I realized that this poem was about a son and a mother that was grieving over the death of his father, and her husband. They both that day had thought about the father and husband cause the son had called that day to talk to his father. That's when he found out that his mother, had made coffee for his father and had put it on the table like she does everyday for him. They both knew that he had been deceased for a year now. I know the death of a family member can be a traumatic thing for most families to every experience in their lifetime.…

    The Red Wheelbarrow Essay

“The Red Wheelbarrow” which published in 1923, is my favorite poem in this chapter. The author of this poem is William Carols Williams. To be honest, one of the reasons that I like this poem is that it is a very short poem, only eight lines. Even though it has only eight lines, it is not easy to figure out all of the meaning of the poem. The poet contained his feeling in only eight lines. Understanding poems are harder than understanding stories because writers can tell or explain their thought in their stories but it is hard to explain and expand their feeling in poems. I think The Red Wheelbarrow shows me how the wheelbarrow helps people to work in daily life, how the environment affects people’s feeling, how people ignore the importance of simple objects.…
