Crist, McVay, & Marocco (2014), noted that last 2000, HOD already passed Vision 2020 that contains direct access information to be implemented by physical therapists in both federal and state level (p.6). Although up until now, not all states practice direct access (APTA, n.d), it is right to say that APTA has a plan to escalate direct access in the whole country in the future. Reading from the journal you cited, even though it is based in Australia, we can relate it as to what may happen if we are not fully educated about our roles once direct access will be fully implemented here in USA. Physical therapists here in US, as I can see, will face a lot of struggles before becoming a nation that has direct access, since until this day, there are still six states that has limitation for direct access (APTA, n.d) despite the fact that the professionals in these states, as I believe, knows how to practice autonomously.
