The Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO) says that it takes over 10 pounds of plant protein is used to produce one pound of beef protein. These grains should be fed to humans because there would be more food available and therefore saving the plant proteins and helping to feed 925 million people that are suffering from hunger around the world. Cornell University research found that the grain that is used to feed livestock could feed 800 million people. Another reason that vegetarianism saves resources is that it takes around 2,400 gallons of water to produce only one pound of beef, 660 gallons of water to produce only one pound of chicken, and it only takes 220 gallons of water to make a pound of tofu, and only 180 gallons of water to make a pound of wheat flour. This evidence is stated in the article “Water Inputs in California Food Production” by Marcia Kreith. Another study shows shows that livestock produces 500 million tons of more manure than humans every year. Manure makes toxic chemicals that pollute the air and water recourses

This includes records from government programs such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Food and Drug Administration that require tests on dogs and rats. They also include pet store chains, zoos, and aquariums. These records describe in detail the quality of animal care in facilities structured by the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) and Horse Protection Act (HPA).
