From a lack of available parking spaces, to poorly managed dining services, the university has no shortage of problems that need to be solved. One problem in particular that deserves immediate attention is the issue of the Honors College. Being enrolled in the Jesup Scott Honors College is a prestigious honor and is a well-respected program; however, there are issues within the Honors College that make it difficult for the wide-eyed, ambitious freshmen to graduate as honors students. A major dilemma that works against students is the seemingly endless list of requirements to graduate with honors. Students are expected to complete 33 semester hours of honors courses, in addition to completing a capstone thesis and enroll in upper-level interdisciplinary seminars. These requirements may even be more strict for students in different majors/colleges. Another problem, is the lack of incentives for students to remain in the Honors College. While the thought of graduating with a medallion around one’s neck and more knowledge than most may seem enticing to some, most students need something extra to encourage them to stay in the program. Finally, an issue that impacts the majority of honors students is the lack of…

I would like to begin by saying that I am honored to be a nominee for membership into the 2013 Senior Honor Society of York College of Pennsylvania. I take passion in my academic studies and my community involvement. The opportunity to be recognized for the impact I have made on my college and local community is truly flattering. After spending my first two years at Millersville University, I began my studies at York College in my third year of college as a junior. Living in Spring Grove, I made the decision to live at home, work a part-time job, and commute to York College. These factors are all things that could have impacted my campus-life involvement, but I was determined to not let these factors impact my college experience. I jumped head first into the York College Community and was accepted with open arms into whatever groups I wanted to become affiliated with on campus.…

Knowing how to work hard to achieve their goals, the “studs” are among the hardest working scholars around. I like to take pride in that, knowing that I’m one of the hardest workers at my school. Despite how I’m describing the studs in the stud club, I also believe that we are fairly prudent. I regard my accomplishment of being in the stud club for three consecutive years to be a great feat but due to the award’s ambiguity, I wouldn’t be able to include it on any resume without it being brought into question. Nonetheless, the stud club and title of “stud” has been a part of me pushing me to become something great ever since I was first inducted into the club my sophomore…

Achieving good grades has allowed me to receive admission to my schools Renaissance activities…
