10 Wrestlers Accomplishments
Commitment is key to success in anything in life, no matter the activity involved. There are many activities for students to become involved in, some of which are sports. At my high school, the wrestling team has a special club for only the most committed wrestlers. Our coach calls this club the stud club, it encompases the ten wrestlers who show a desire to be something great. . After becoming part of the club, the ten wrestlers are given a shirt with a special logo on the front to wear as a badge of honor. I have had the luxury of being in the stud club for the past three years of my high school career. While it may not be an astounding accomplishment to anyone who isn’t a Fairmont wrestler, it’s a tremendous feat for one of us. Lately the competition to be one of the ten elite wrestlers has been fierce, driving each wrestler to train harder and attempt to be the best they can be. While training to be the best version of yourself you can be, something clicks in your mind. There is an obvious change in the personality of each of us, we all aspire to become great in everything we do. The drive becomes more powerful as we train harder and …show more content…
Knowing how to work hard to achieve their goals, the “studs” are among the hardest working scholars around. I like to take pride in that, knowing that I’m one of the hardest workers at my school. Despite how I’m describing the studs in the stud club, I also believe that we are fairly prudent. I regard my accomplishment of being in the stud club for three consecutive years to be a great feat but due to the award’s ambiguity, I wouldn’t be able to include it on any resume without it being brought into question. Nonetheless, the stud club and title of “stud” has been a part of me pushing me to become something great ever since I was first inducted into the club my sophomore

Few sports encompass the battle of human bodies and wills quite like the sport of wrestling does. Two opponents of equal size, with little equipment, and no goal other than to physically dominate your opponent. Ask any wrestler, however, and they will tell you that this “physical” battle is 90% mental- more about breaking and outlasting your opponent rather than feats of physical strength. Press that same wrestler a little further, and they will admit that the toughest battle is not actually with the person standing on the line across from you, but rather within your own mind and body. The fact that wrestlers drop a lot of weight before competition, (sometimes using harmful methods) is well-known, but few people understand the full process…

Throughout my four years of high school, I have consistently pushed myself beyond my limits and comfort zones in attempt to discover my place in the world. I spent most of first two years discovering who I was as an individual, ultimately manifesting into inspiration for success. I grew out of “fitting in” and decided to turn my life and aspirations towards a greater direction; on this road of discovery, I separated myself from those who valued arrogance and indifference. “Nerd Squad” is what I am a part of today, which is why I am currently confident enough to apply for the National Honors Society Scholarship. I believe I have grown into a tenacious, sympathetic, and joyous young man that the entire school has seen develop, and I am honored…

Often times you see athletes performing dominating blocks, making big hits, or making acrobatic catches. However, athletes have much more to offer off their respective playing surfaces that goes unseen. Here at Henderson State University athletes are supposed to epitomize what a college student in Arkadelphia should be. We’re depended upon to be campus leaders to our peers and set examples verbally as well as through our actions. Sometimes we’re seen as intimidating individuals do to our outer appearance but we’re empathetic to others just as others. Our athletic program is set on allowing our athletes to give back to our community and school through participation in various events that occur throughout the calendar year. By providing opportunities for student-athletes to serve, these young men and women make meaningful contributions to society. “We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of detrimination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort (Jesse Owens, Olympic Trackstar),” I do not fear the unknown; I fear the day I stop trying to be the best. I cannot change that currently, people are faster than me, but that shouldn’t stop me from taking lead and becoming the best. Each time I race, I think of the pride I will feel afterwards if I give it my all, to take home a win, but also I think of the shame and humiliation I will feel if I don’t. Even if I am not currently the best, I know one day my hard work and mental toughness will pay off in some way, because it’s how badly I want to be the champion, and that is what I work for everyday of…

I was so focused on the academic aspects of school my freshman and sophomore years’ that i wasn’t active in any of my school’s clubs or activities. I finally decided to get more involved my junior year and I joined nearly every club, participated in every activity, and even went to as many sports events as I could have. I currently am a six year member of the National Beta Club and have held the positions of Vice President of Fundraising and Senior Representative throughout my high school career. Not only am I a leader in the Beta Club, but I participate in the Trailblazer leadership program with the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance and my school’s freshman mentor program. I also joined the TRIO Upward Bound program whose ACT prep helped me to obtain a 22 as my highest ACT score at the time allowing me acceptance into my school’s ACT top 20 Club. Although it was hard with my many extracurricular activities I somehow still managed to finish my junior year with a 3.8…

Children tend to go out for sports to make friends, improve relationships, become better at the sport, and to stay in shape. No matter what the reason is when you join the sport, you will find out that you gained numerous friends over the course of the season. As every sports season comes around the corner, you can visualize how close people on the same teams grow. At our high school, people eat with their teams, lift with their teams, practice with their teams, and play with their teams. The environment is set up to create friendships. Being a senior in high school, I have had the opportunity to participate in multiple team sports. Throughout my high school experience, I have noticed is that the teams who grow the closest, have the greatest success. One piece of evidence is our soccer team. When I came into high school, we had the opportunity to meet new coaches. Coach Garza and Coach Javi, the soccer coaches, are no doubt, the best coaches I have ever had the chance to be taught by. They both possess the rare trait of being able to bond kids together. The soccer team I am on has the strongest bond I have ever seen. Since I joined the team as a freshman, we have made two consecutive state trips, which were the first and second in school history. We also achieved the runner-up status in the championship game. If there were one trait I could relate our success to, it would be the bond we share as a…

There are several goals I have set for myself in college; I aspire to make the dean's-list in all the years I attend college, I anticipate participating in a minimum of two organizations which can get me more absorbed in the community, and finally, I want to become involved with the student body, and attend as many school sponsored events as I can. In my junior year, when I heard I made the honor roll at my high school, I was overcome with a feeling of fulfillment. This was the first time I had made the honor roll and with this achievement was a feeling of pride for the work I put in, and for the way the work reflected in my grades. But, I stayed hungry and kept working to maintain this honor, and I finished on the honor role for the entirety…

“You can quit when you are finished.” My dad has been saying this my entire life. Everytime he said that I took it to heart because, it is a powerful saying if you really and truly follow it.
