Personal Narrative: The Little Mermaid
This I believe

When I was six or seven years old, I was obsessed with The Little Mermaid. I would watch it over and over. One day after I watched the movie, my dad brought me some fish sticks. I asked him, “Is this like the fish from The Little Mermaid?” He wanted me to eat it, so he said, “No, this is a different type of fish.” Then I said, “Darn. I bet those fish would taste yummy.” I’ve changed a lot over the years. I believe you should help keep all animals alive and well.

When I was eleven years old, I was at my mom’s friends house. It was compact, all the rooms were connected, and she had a dog who kept jumping up on me, and a cat purring on my lap. I started thinking about how much I love animals. I contemplated about how lovable

Growing up can be challenging even with the ideal surroundings. Your teen years are even more puzzling because you seem to be stuck in between being a child and an adult. Throw in not having a father or mother around and life gets difficult. The year 2001 was a difficult year for my family and the nation. My life growing up wasn’t picture perfect, but in one very long month I learned that kindness from those around will help you endure and survive.…

When asked to write about a childhood experience most people think of the time they lost their first tooth when they were 6, or about the time they started school when they were 5, however, I’m going to write about summer. It wasn’t just any summer it was the summer that I went to the lake with my Dad and Papa. I was about 4 and couldn’t be any more excited about what was going to happen…

It all started out at the reefs of the cold winter season in the Pacific Ocean. Against all odds there was Iro the jellyfish leader realized upon his jellyfish species that they were running out of food on their land. Benko and Seno the twins, the leaders of the sea turtles ruled the next land after them and made an agreement between Iro since long time ago during the massacre of the jellyfish and turtles for land. As soon as the new year came into existence, I created a list of goals to complete in 2016, all of which I plan to complete with gusto (I love that word, it sounds so silly). One of those goals (#5 on my list actually) is to finally get my hands on a first edition of The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux and stare at it in wonder as if it were a fairy princess riding a unicorn into the sunset. I don't even have to purchase it, just hold it and touch it like it is a priceless treasure (which it is).…

I've never realized that Disney's The Little Mermaid was not an original Disney character/story, though this shouldn't have been a surprise since Disney's princesses all come from stories developed by people outside of Disney. Like Disney they take someone's original story and add so much more to them to make them appropriate and more appealing to children of all ages.…

As a child, I loved being outdoors and all animals. At the age of two, my dad brought me home a stuffed animal chimpanzee, which I named Jubilee. He gave me Jubilee because it was the first time that a chimpanzee was born at the London Zoo. That is when my fascination of chimpanzees began. When I was around eleven or twelve I had a dream that I was working with animals in the rain forest. And a little over ten years later that dream of mine came true.…

As a kid I have always cared for the environment and the animals that inhabit it because of how amazed I was towards it. Nature and animals have always fascinated me. I hope to grow up to help the environment and animals who are powerless. When I was a kid, I saw a movie called Beethoven about a family who brings in a puppy into their family. The antagonists of the movie owned a puppy mill that treated the dogs harshly. Even after watching the movie, I did not believe that they actually exist. I did not know how cruel, greedy, and heartless some people were. I was naive because I used to think that cows, chickens, and pigs lived happily on large fields of grass freely roaming around and that the fur of animals were shaved off without any pain to the animal.…

My parents are the main people in my life that I have to thank for making me the respectable young woman I am pushing to become. Not only have they taught me to work hard, but they've taught me how to sympathise and compromise to help animals that can’t help themselves, and always remember to respect God’s creatures. I have stuck by these beliefs my whole life, even as a young child, as I believe this is the best advice they have given me towards my future. Animals have been in and out of my family and I’s care as long as I can remember, and every time I met a new animal I would remember the morals my parents taught me. As anyone can probably see, my family and experiences with animals have had a big impact on the person I am today and the person I aim to be in the future.…

Being the son of two immigrants in America, I never felt that I was a true “American” or a true “Indian.” Being brought to America at six months of age, I never got to experience the culture that my parents had been raised in. I was living two lifestyles, half day American and the second half, when I got home from school, I lived an Indian lifestyle. At home, I spoke Hindi but at school, I was being taught a whole new language, English. Having these differences I did not realize how unique I was; I realized that many of my friends cannot fluently speak another language; speaking in Hindi and not having to worry if someone was gonna hear me was a hidden benefit I never realized I had. Being even partially part of two cultures gave me different experiences that just one culture would not have. Some people take their differences as a negative thing; I, on the other hand, have…

I choose this topic because animals really fascinate me. Since I was kid, I always had a pet dog. Her name is Lolita and I would break down if anything happened to that innocent puppy. I think animals are a treasure to this world. They help us understand each other. They may not be able to reason like us but that doesn’t mean they don’t feel anything. They feel pain, fear, sadness, happiness. They are animals, we are animals. We may look different but we should all take care of each other ,we were all made from the same earth.…

As a little girl people would criticize me telling me that I shouldn’t waste my time trying to help the lost or stray animals, they would say that I couldn’t help them all, which is true I am only one person and at the time I was only a child, but thankfully I had my parents who did help me as much as they could, sometimes there where cases in which it was out of our control we would come a crossed an injured animal and whether it was the vet office or the wild life facility they would try their best but the timing was just too late to save the animal. Thankfully there were more good…
