College Admissions Essay-Veterinary Technology Is My Future
Veterinary Technology Is My Future
My parents are the main people in my life that I have to thank for making me the respectable young woman I am pushing to become. Not only have they taught me to work hard, but they've taught me how to sympathise and compromise to help animals that can’t help themselves, and always remember to respect God’s creatures. I have stuck by these beliefs my whole life, even as a young child, as I believe this is the best advice they have given me towards my future. Animals have been in and out of my family and I’s care as long as I can remember, and every time I met a new animal I would remember the morals my parents taught me. As anyone can probably see, my family and experiences with animals have had a big impact on the person I am today and the person I aim to be in the future.

My future with animals does not only exist at home, my junior year of high school I had to do an apprenticeship for my animal science class as part of FFA. My love and knowledge of animals caused me to make the decision of apprenticing at a veterinary clinic, where I would soon learn just how deep my urge to help and love animals goes. After my week of apprenticing there was over, I realized what I wanted to do with my life, I wanted to become a veterinary technician. Now, I volunteer at Walker Street Veterinary Clinic Monday through Thursday at 3:30pm to 5:30pm. I do this to not only prepare myself for my future in college and in the workforce, but also because of my passion for

In "A Change of Heart About Animals," a 2003 editorial published in the Los Angeles Times, Jeremy Rifkin argues that new research calls into question many of the boundaries commonly thought to exist between humans and other animals, and as a consequence humans should expand their empathy for animals and treat them better. To support this argument Rifkin points to studies suggesting that animals can acquire language, use tools, exhibit self-awareness, anticipate death, and pass on knowledge from one generation to the next.…

I will be working and living in a state that is very animal friendly, with many groups actively helping animals medically and to find their forever homes. “No Kill Los Angeles is an initiative led by Best Friends Animal Society to turn Los Angeles into a no-kill city by the year 2017” (http://nkla.org/About). The initiative brings together animal shelters and welfare organizations in the greater Los Angeles area to aid the cause. NKLA will be a great place to work or volunteer my time, and my resume will continue to grow as I check off these milestones over the upcoming years of my life. It all begins with getting my foot in the door of the animal world. I am on a great path thus far with getting into college, getting a dog behavioral job at a canine daycare, and now being a Veterinary Technician Assistant at an animal hospital.
