Personal Narrative: St. Paul
The saint that I have chosen to be my confirmation saint is St. Paul. I have many reasons for choosing this saint. One of these reasons being that my grandpa’s name was until of course he died. Although my grandfather was not a Catholic he was a Lutheran he was the best man I have ever known and probably will be the best person I will ever know. Just his presence made anyone around him happy. Even though while he was still alive, and I was still pretty little, I didn’t realize how amazing of a role model he was for me, I know now how much he was.
The other reason I chose St. Paul was because just everything about him intrigues me. Just his life and how he began as Saul a person who persecuted Christians and hated them, and how he transformed almost into one of the main reasons Christianity is as wide spread as it is now. If you didn’t already know St. Paul, or Saul at this point in his life, was Paul

This caused Paul to go out and search for Christians so he could persecute them, he even attended the first Christian martyr St. Stephan die. But one day while on the road to Damascus to find more Christians to persecute he suddenly was blinded by a great light and fell off of his horse. He even say the risen lord and Jesus said to him, “Saul, Saul why do you persecute me?” Then Paul replied, “Who are you Lord?” Jesus replied, “I am Jesus, the one you have been persecuting.” Paul lost is sight for 3 days and had to be led to Damascus by hand. While Paul was there he didn’t eat or drink anything, he only sat and prayed to God. When Ananias arrived to see Paul he laid his hands on Paul and said, “Brother Saul, the Lord, [even] Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost." Immediately Paul’s sight was restored and he got up and went to get

I never thought how interesting it would be to visit a different place of worship besides Christianity. Since the day I was born I’ve been a Christian and whatever anyone else believes in is wrong and that they are going to hell if they don’t believe in Christianity. About 3 years ago I visited the International Buddhist Progress Society a Buddhist temple in Naperville. Buddhism from what I learned looks more like a way of life or guidelines to it rather than a religion. Buddhism tells you how you could live life better but doesn’t scare you with the prospect of hell instead you live with ignorance. My own history with Christianity still made me doubt or fear the conquences of going to this temple. Part of me believed that I be punished by…

I chose Saint Elizabeth of Hungary because she was very selfless and kind. I also like the name Elizabeth. Saint Elizabeth was born in 1207 and died in 1231. She was born into a very wealthy family. She married at the age of 13 to Prince Louis of Thuringa. She had four children. Each day in the morning and evening she would tend to the sick, hungry and the poor. She spent all her own money to help the poor, sick and hungry. She became a saint on May 27, 1235. She died when she was only 24. Her feast day is November 17…

The apostle Paul, also known as “Saul of Tarsus,”, is the apostle to the Gentiles. (Romans 11:131 and Galatians 2:8).2 (You can use parenthetical citation for Scripture, as you did here, without having to also cite them in the endnotes.) In order for us to understand how God ordained his apostleship to the Gentiles, we must first understand his background.…

This changed when Paul was walking down a road one day and was struck by a bolt of lighting and left with an image of Christ seared into his mind. Left blind by the ordeal for three days, he soon had his vision restored. Paul began preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ after the event, turning from his dogmatic Judaism to reaffirming claims about Jesus being the true son of God. Paul goes on to preach to the non-jewish Gentiles who would spread his Gospels later on. Best described as a “Hebrew born of Hebrews” turned devout Christian, Paul is depicted as transforming from intolerant to open-minded and venerated by…

“Saul” was a self-righteous young Pharisee, almost completely anti-Christian. Saul had previously participated in the stoning of st. Stephen and agreed that what the Jews were doing was acceptable. A few days later Saul was on his way to Damascus to arrest another group of Christians when he fell to the ground and was struck blind by a heavenly light (Jesus) which had a spiritual effect on him. Saul was converted to Christianity and was later baptised with the name of Paul and began his first preaching in Antioch – in a synagogue.…

As part of my confirmation, I will take a saints name. This saint becomes the heavenly patron that I will set as my role model. My sponsor has been my "role model" throughout this process, but as I begin my Catholic life St. Elizabeth Ann will be my guide. I chose Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton because for the past 3 years I have been part of her team for my old school St. Joseph. At St. Joseph we have this saint system. When you first enter 6th grade you are put into one of the first 5 American saints teams, and I was chosen into Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton’s, but not only that she is a great catholic that someday I hope to become.…

This morning I attended a weekday mass at All Saints Catholic Church. The church itself is relatively large from what I saw. The exterior had many well-tended trees and bushes, with a sign pointing to the office, and a cross about six feet tall out front by a cement walkway which led to the entrance. The building itself was a taupe color with dark brown roofing and glass doors leading at the entrance. As I walked through the glass doors I was not greeted by anyone, so I followed what everyone else was doing. I noticed a holy water font in front of the doors leading directly to the room of worship. I watched as the casually-dressed Parishioners, all aged at least sixty-five years, and mostly white, middle-class women dipped their fingers into the font and then made the sign of the cross, before entering the worship area.…

I would have to chose, Woodrow Wilson. Wilson was the 28th president and an advocate for world peace. I chose him as a hero because of that, which I will elaborate more on later on, but that would have to be one of the main reasons I chose him, I for one think that would take a ton of courage. He was later ranked one…

Three years later I met James Cox. He was living with his Mother’s Pastor Charles and his wife. We met on the job and became friends. James passed his physical for the fire department and he wanted to go out to celebrate. He took me to a very nice restaurant called Max House. Once we were seated he smile and said thank you for accepting my invitation. I brought you here to show you how much I appreciate you for working the extra hours and allow me to get paid for it. Few people would work another’s shifts and gave them the hours. That was the only way he could go through his training and still keep his pay. I had not minded doing that for him. While we sat in the restaurant he thanked me repeatedly for helping him. Then he told me about his life. He came to New York…

The person I choice to interview this week just like last week is also someone I turn to when I am faced with questions and concerns regarding all of my biblical classes and sometimes just personal spiritual questions. That person is my pastor and my father in law who has been a southern Baptist preacher for over thirty years. Of those thirty years he has only been pastor of two churches both, which have been very successful while he was and is presently the pastor. When we talk about anything and everything overall we have a great relationship. I choose to interview him this week because I knew he would be able to show me the more experienced side of his ministry because of his years of serving the lord.…
