Personal Narrative: Spiritual Interest
Spiritual Interest Galatians 2:20” I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” Knowing Jesus on a personal level is the greatest thing in the world. When we come to know Jesus all the angels in Heaven rejoice. Having a relationship with the Lord can change your life forever. I love knowing that There is a God up in Heaven that I can go to when things get out of hand. Glorifying God for the rest of my life will be something I will always cherish. John 3:16” For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. That whoever should believe in him shall not parish, but have everlasting life.” That verse is more true to me today than it was 15 years ago. When I was five years old I became a Christian. One day I was riding my bike and I felt a tug at my heart to let Jesus into my life. After feeling that tug in my heart I went inside and told my Mom that I wanted to become a Christian. She prayed with me and I have been a Christian ever since. …show more content…
I have grown up in a Christian home and my parents have taught me to keep my faith strong. Every single day I try to remind myself to pray and to thank God for everything he has given me. I know I am a Christian because I asked God into my heart and I live out my faith every day. I glorify God daily and let him work in my

I never thought how interesting it would be to visit a different place of worship besides Christianity. Since the day I was born I’ve been a Christian and whatever anyone else believes in is wrong and that they are going to hell if they don’t believe in Christianity. About 3 years ago I visited the International Buddhist Progress Society a Buddhist temple in Naperville. Buddhism from what I learned looks more like a way of life or guidelines to it rather than a religion. Buddhism tells you how you could live life better but doesn’t scare you with the prospect of hell instead you live with ignorance. My own history with Christianity still made me doubt or fear the conquences of going to this temple. Part of me believed that I be punished by…

In (John 3:16) “God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son so that we could have everlasting life.” This gave me the understanding, that no matter what I am going through in life and all the things that I may have to give up for someone else is for a good cause. Having this faith in my heart makes me feel very spiritual. I have never had any doubt the Lord existing in this world. When I am lonely, depress, or stressing about things I have no control over, I know I can call on the Lord to get me through these emotions that I am experiencing.…

The study of God's chesed has invoked in me feelings of comfort, reassurance, and tranquility. In our everyday lives, without identifying it, religious symbols and rituals surrounds us. If you have ever carried money, “In God We Trust” is a religious symbol that is exists on the one-dollar bill. If you happened to say the pledge of allegiance when you were a child, you were saying “one nation under God” which refers to God as well as the Christian belief. Around the holidays, there are Easter decorations, and eating only fish on Good Friday, all represents religious symbols of the Catholic faith. Religious symbols are characteristics of every single diverse religion, it reinforces faith, stimulate certain beliefs, and speak to the essentials of that particular religion.…

In The Pursuit of Holiness, Jerry Bridges explains his view holiness. He states, “to be holy is to be morally blameless” (15); meaning, it is to be detached from sin wholeheartedly, dedicating your life to God and trying to mirror Christ’s behavior in order to honor Him. However, finding holiness is a dual effort between God and the individual pursuing Him. It is impossible to achieve holiness without the helping hand of God. He has laid out the path and is guiding Christians along the way to a pleasing lifestyle towards Him, but it is to those whom are following Him that must submit to the task and take direction, putting in the effort, and trying to live a life that God would approve of, and as well as, shed a light to His great glory to…

I have been raised in the Church all through my life. Both my Mother and Father worked at Crossroads Church for several years. Plus, I have gone to CHCA for all of my life and taken a Christian Studies class every year. Therefore, I have a lot of experience with the Bible and have basically read all of the bible but not in the correct order. Originally, I would only do hermeneutics of the Bible and not until 8th grade did I start to do historical exegesis. In church when I was a child, I was force fed verses and meanings of the bible that impact personally. This may cause me to put some ideas and thoughts into that bible that aren’t there. As I matured, I began to study the bible with my family and friends. We would take verses and would midrash…

I will be interviewing a close friend who I grew up with in High River, Alberta. We met in grade two at the Catholic elementary school in High River and continued a Catholic education together until grade twelve graduation. She is single and recently purchased her very own house. She has a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree and works in youth and community development. I chose her as an interviewee because she is Catholic and I am not, and I want to learn what her experience was like with religion while growing up and how it impacts her current life. We are very close and have known each other for many years but religion has never been a huge topic of discussion. It does come up occasionally but the conversation is very short-lived. I am interested in comparing her experiences as a Catholic to mine as a non-Catholic attending the same Catholic school. She has never broadcasted her religion to me like others have and I think I will be able to gain insight into her religious experiences that I may not be aware of.…

I’ve had difficulty talking about my religious history, not out of any sort of embarrassment, but simply because my explanations never seem at all accurate. I tend to organize my past into stages. It makes sense in normal life, usually stages come naturally. For example I just finished my college stage and have recently entered my unemployed stage. Simple and accurate. I usually try to describe my religious history in a similar methodology, I have the stage where I followed my parents, my agnostic stage, my hyper-conservative christianity phase, and my current stage. Although I have used this description every time I tell anyone about my religious history, it has always felt… off.…
