Personal Narrative Soccer Team
From the time I was five years old to the time I turned sixteen, I've played soccer. My brother, being seven years older than me, always challenged me to lead my team even when I was young. As a result, I was in control of the team's defense when on the field. Come when I turned thirteen, I was made the captain of my competitive soccer team; My duty as captain entailed delegating on-field roles to my teammates and making sure they were playing the right positions. Also, It was my duty to read the on-field situation and change our game plan to best fit our style as we played. This created a sense of flexibility that has become engrained in my brain ever since. The role of captain may not sound very applicable to an on-campus leader, yet, I'd

Over the weekend I had a huge Soccer Tournament in Grey. We had two games on Saturday and one game Sunday. In the first game we played a Cumberland club team and beat them 2-0. In our second game we played Westbrook and won 5-0. So at the end of the day we were 2-0 and in first for our bracket, but winslow was also 2-0. Going into Sunday we had to beat South Portland by two goals and not let them score. We ended up tying them 3-3 and we got eliminated because Winslow beat Westbrook 4-0.…

Last year, it was my first year when I work in the female soccer team from my old high school. This was a soccer team where I was a goalkeeper trainer. This team was the high school soccer team representing the local High school. The purpose for our team was to win all the games against other schools, another of our goals was to have fun and to stay active; my personal goal was to train the goalkeepers the best I can and make them better soccer players. The best reward we all get was the feeling of been the winning team, the feeling that we all get after realizing how hard work has paid off. That is always the best feeling, to win games. The best reward I get personally is just to know that I trained the goalkeeper the right way, and they had…

Soccer has been a big part of my life growing up. The biggest thing for me going into high school, freshman year, was making the soccer team. I showed up to every summer camp training first, and would work an hour before practice every day. To get better and impress the coaches. At the end of one practice the coach pulls me aside and tells me "Keep up the good work, you have a spot on Junior Varsity." At my school for a freshman to make JV was a big deal. I was ecstatic. Just as summer camp came to an end, tryouts began. I went into tryouts with great confidence, having no doubts in my mind about what team I made. The week after tryouts they posted the teams, with the confidence I had, I told myself that I didn't even need to look. That I had…

This year my soccer team had a record of 2-8-1. It was very difficult for us as a team to stay strong after losing so many games, especially myself, but we kept playing. Despite losing the first eight games of our season, I maintained a positive attitude and kept things in perspective. Each loss strengthened our team and made us became better not only as a team, but individuals. During one of our away games, I injured myself which caused me to be out the rest of the season. It was hard for me to watch my team from the sidelines and not be out there with them, but I learned that being both supportive and energetic can be just as valuable to the team. There were many times I felt discouraged about my inability to participate on the field, but…

Ever since my freshmen year of high school, football has been the only thing that has mattered to me. I was given the opportunity to dress varsity as a freshman and being around that atmosphere, being on a successful team was intoxicating, especially to me at such a young age. I loved every minute of it, and I knew I wanted to be the one out on the field making the plays I watched that whole year. I made it my goal from that year on, I was going to give everything it took over the next three years in order to be the best football player possible.…

I will define myself with my talent. My talent is soccer by the way and during my school years I had always been on soccer. I think that this soccer talent is heritage from my family. I started playing soccer at Roma Middle School and my coaches saw a future on me. I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it to the team because I was chubby and for this sport you got to be on shape. I didn’t give up and as a seventh grader, I was already playing as a starter on team A. I was with fear because I had never experience a game related with school or in which ever place of the world. My coach was motivating me to try as hard as I could to beat our classic rival game against Ramiro Barrera Middle School. We won one to zero at the last minute with my goal.…

Service is a mindset. I work at Shady Grove and try to see my job as a way to serve others. I greet all customers with a smile and treat them with dignity; I am amazed to see the difference it makes in someone’s day. However, I don’t always see the positive outcome of a simple smile. Numerous times, I have had been responded to with a grimace or no expression at all. I know that the people might think I am bizarre for smiling for no particular reason, but I try to look at the effects and realize that I am willing to take the risk to be looked at as odd if the alternative option is that the person’s day became a little better. If we continually look for ways in which we can help others, the world we live in would be strengthened and made more prosperous. Some may believe that by serving others, our personal gain may be hindered; however, I truly believe that if we look for ways to serve others, it will not detract from our personal gain, rather, it will help us.…
