Personal Narrative: My Experience As A Soccer Player
Starting soccer when I was only five years old was challenging because of my October birthday I had to play with all the six year olds. My parents had put me in soccer because I was a young boy filled with too much energy. After playing soccer for about a year I decided I wanted to do more, I loved the sport. I started playing club soccer when I was 7 years old, playing for under the wing of Charley Amblo. This was a training team only, it was not till I was nine that I was started playing for a travel team. This was the beginning of where I learned my leadership, time management, and teamwork dynamics.
Over the course of ten years of playing club, Rec and school soccer I have developed certain skills in being a leader to a group of people.

Over the weekend I had a huge Soccer Tournament in Grey. We had two games on Saturday and one game Sunday. In the first game we played a Cumberland club team and beat them 2-0. In our second game we played Westbrook and won 5-0. So at the end of the day we were 2-0 and in first for our bracket, but winslow was also 2-0. Going into Sunday we had to beat South Portland by two goals and not let them score. We ended up tying them 3-3 and we got eliminated because Winslow beat Westbrook 4-0.…

Soccer, the sport I started playing when I was four years old. After almost 14 years of playing the sport I loved, we were playing Ocala Vanguard in the District tournament for my high school soccer team, Leesburg; if we lost it would be game over for me and my 15 other senior teammates. We knew we had to play strong just to have a chance against them, and oh what a game it was.…

People ask me why I care so much. They tell me it’s just a game, get over it. But soccer has never been just a game to me. Soccer has been consuming my time, thoughts, and body since my parents signed me up for small-time recreational soccer twelve years ago that developed into extremely competitive travel soccer. They, perhaps unknowingly, threw me headlong into a life of traveling countless miles, long nights of practice, and an unforgettable amount of tears, sweat, and bloodshed. All which persisted over the course of my extensive soccer career.…

It all started at ninth street with some friends of mine John and I started recruiting some people to come play football with us. I honestly didn’t know I had a pretty decent arm. I originally was going to start practicing to play wide receiver instead of quarterback. At the time Odell Beckham Jr. ( wide receiver for the New York Giants ) was extremely explosive and dynamic on offense. Seeing him blow up on offense made me want to try out for wide receiver. But somehow John convinced me to play quarterback.…

Last year, it was my first year when I work in the female soccer team from my old high school. This was a soccer team where I was a goalkeeper trainer. This team was the high school soccer team representing the local High school. The purpose for our team was to win all the games against other schools, another of our goals was to have fun and to stay active; my personal goal was to train the goalkeepers the best I can and make them better soccer players. The best reward we all get was the feeling of been the winning team, the feeling that we all get after realizing how hard work has paid off. That is always the best feeling, to win games. The best reward I get personally is just to know that I trained the goalkeeper the right way, and they had…

Soccer is a huge part of my life, and a big part of a soccer team is the coach. The coach must make an impact on their players in order to make the players better. The best coaches will stay with you forever even if they are not your coach anymore. When I was younger and throughout middle school I only had one soccer coach my entire life. The coach I had for my entire life was my father, so getting a brand new coach during my first year of high school was quite scary. I had always been extremely close to my coach, obviously because he was my father, and getting another one that I may not be close to made me nervous. My father knew how I played better that anyone, and he also knew my strengths and weaknesses. Dad had a straightforward view of…

Secondly, playing with Oakville Soccer Club has improved my soccer skills. I began playing house league when I was young. I remember being the top scorer on my team, as I scored 7 goals in one game. My coach believed that house league was not a challenge for me and that playing red league would be more competitive, and that’s what I did. Through the few years of playing soccer at lower level for OSC it has prepared me for playing at a higher level. The coaches had potential that I was good enough to play rep soccer. At the age of 12 I started playing rep soccer for many clubs. The coaches pushed me and helped me discover my potential as a defender. As I discovered my potential as a defender, I tried out for my high school soccer team and played…

Both of my sisters have been swept up in the recent bouldering craze. My younger sister went so far as to join a team so that she could so that she could climb in a competitive atmosphere. My own interest, however, is not piqued by the sport. Their love for the sport is completely contrary to my own disinterest. I just can’t seem to fathom how they find it so entertaining. It stands to reason, therefore, that there is little to no reason for me to actively participate in, or attend their “comps.” And so, I don’t. In turn, due to their lack of attraction to my chosen sport, soccer, their attendance at my games is severely lacking.…

It was a chilly and cloudy night. Me and family were having some supper, and we just came back from a soccer try out. Until Suddenly, I see my dad from distance on the porch jumping up and down in excitement and joy. My father called me to the porch, so I whipped on my jacket, jumped into my slip ons and dashed to the porch. I thought my dad got hurt, but really, he just gave me his phone to read the email he received from DASC saying “ You have been invited by GIS (Global Image Sports) to play with the North American soccer team.” I knew this was the start of something extraordinary.…

I played at the recreational level of soccer from when I was five years old until I was about nine years old. The most exciting part about that playing level for me was that I was one of the best on the team so I got to play the majority of the games to help my team score a lot of goals. At that point in my career I was playing as a left forward. When I was between my fourth and fifth grade year in school, I had the opportunity to try out for a travel soccer club called the Lakeway Legacy. I decided that since I was trying out for a new team I would maybe try out a new position as the goalkeeper. The kids on the team then included Isaac, Matt, Andy, Grant, Colin, Preston, and Britt. We had very successful soccer seasons every single year we played. We were always one of the best teams in the state, and all the other teams were scared of us. We made it to the state tournament almost every year and my last season playing for them we had the opportunity to go to the Southeast Regional Soccer Tournament and we won one of our games and lost two. Even though the losses outweighed the wins, it was one of the greatest achievements I had achieved in my life.…
