Pediatric Nurse Application Essay
When I started this program I was deciding between being a pediatrician or a pediatric nurse, but now that I have been through the program and had a chance to explore many different careers I have shifted between many different pathways in the medical field. Especially when I went to the medical career club meetings, I would always question what I thought I wanted and would end up going back to my main reason for wanting to be a pediatrician or a pediatric nurse, I love working with kids. As I transitioned from introduction to health to medical terminology, I found one career that I never knew existed, a neonatal nurse. As soon as i realized that you can work, let alone get payed to work with babies, there would be no questioning what I wanted …show more content…
Health Ed. has been really easy because we have pretty much covered most of that units, even the CPR unit. I have also used what I have learned in this class outside of school mostly with my family because when they would not know what something means I would always be able to tell them what it means. I have also noticed that I understand what my doctors and more specifically what orthodontist is saying during my appointments. I will use what I have learned in this class to my advantage while in college and nursing school. If I could go back in time I would not want to change anything but I would tell my 9th grade self to relax and that I made the right choice, if not one of the best choices so far. I think five years after graduating from Wheeling I will be in the process of getting my registered nursing degree and after ten years I see myself having a nursing job and maybe working as a neonatal nurse if possible by then. In ten years a lot will be different about me but I see myself being in a good place. I really enjoyed being in this program and I am going to miss it, but I am excited that I am moving to CNA next

Ten years after I finish my CNA I see myself being completed with Beaver College of Health Science with my master’s degree. After I graduate from Beaver College I will be working as a Pediatric Nurse Practioner. I will be transferred from working in the doctor’s office to working in a hospital on the children floor. I will not be working with one age of children but I will be working with all ages of children from little babies to big kids. I first wanted to be strictly a neonatal nurse but with my desire of getting a higher degree to become a Nurse Practioner I decided I wanted to be a pediatric nurse practioner it will work out since I want to work with kids and be a Nurse Practioner so with that being said this will be the best ending of…

Neonatologist take care of new born babies. Such as premature, ill or seriously ill new born that would be in the NICU. They are “masters or [doctorally] prepared advanced practice nurse who provides advanced nursing care to neonates up to two years of age in a variety of clinical settings” ("Neonatal Nurse Practitioner."). There are many different levels in the neonatal field such as level one being just taking care of healthy infants. These days now it has started to decrease because if they are healthy they are more likely to be in the room with their mothers. Level two on the other hand the nurses are having to be more in demand because at this level they are dealing with premature and sick babies and they need more attention. Lastly level…

When I started my junior year of high school I went to the career center for dental assisting. I was expecting to go to enroll into Columbus State Community College, get a major in Dental Hygiene, and then get my Dental Hygienist license in two years. However, after the last two years of being in the Dental Assisting program, like Shelia, I knew I did not want to be what I thought I wanted to be. I am going in a new direction, to major in nursing. One reason is, since I was young I always took extra concern for people’s wellbeing and would like to make a career out of it. I would also like to expand my nursing and become a Pediatrician. The second reason why Shelia’s story is relatable to mine is that I am great with little kids and I think that being a Pediatrician would be a good career for…

To start a career as a pediatric nurse, the person has to first get a bachelor degree which takes 4 years. They can then get a job with this degree but to get a higher paying raise, they can go back to school and get their Master of Science in Nursing or (MSN). This degree takes 2 years to complete. Thank you for an enjoyable and impressive day with your Pediatric Residency Program. It was a pleasure to meet with you, Dr Inamdar and Dr Saini and learn more about Pediatrics at Metropolitan Hospital Center on December 4th, 2015. Personally, I believe that your program closely matches my expectations for residency; strong clinical training, continuity of care, exposure to a multicultural and diverse population and location in a large city. I loved the harmony in your department and how everyone I met seemed genuinely happy and were very approachable.…

At the age of six, I knew that I wanted to find a career where I would be working with kids for the rest of my life. This was a time when my oldest niece was born and was diagnosed with a mild case of down syndrome. When she was an infant, my mother and I would babysit her and I would care for her as if I was a mother figure in her life. I consistently fed her bottles, changed her diapers, rocked her to sleep, and taught her how to read as she grew older. Whatever she needed, I would provide as much as I could. When I transitioned into high school, I found out exactly which career path I wanted to take. I want to go into neonatal nursing because I am very fond of infants. I feel as though I have experience with children who are born with defects…

As a registered nurse, I have been tasked with providing care to patients suffering from various medical conditions, but now I am ready to provide a different type of care in the form of beauty and art. Despite finding my current profession immensely gratifying, I always knew my true passion was in interior designing and decorating; hence why I have made the ambitious decision to go back to school for a new career in interior design. I have always enjoyed working with colors, patterns, and personalizing my home with DIY projects, such as remodeling a storage room into a guest bedroom and tearing down a wall to create a larger living room. I find myself constantly glued to home improvement shows and going through home magazines to find new ways of decorating,…

I would love to become a Nursery/neonatal nurse. I love newborns, they are little bundles of joy and I can be trusted to care for them. It’s not an easy job as some people would think. Not all babies come out “healthy” some are born with defects and need special care and that’s where we come in. Before this class I just knew I wanted to be a nurse but I was lost with finding which nursing role was for me. I went through six different nurse titles and I believe this one suits me the best. Now that I know what kind of nurse I want to be I can make sure I’m taking all the right classes and working harder to become a nursery nurse.…

The areas of nursing that interest me the most are critical care, pediatrics, and cardiothoracic nursing. I really enjoy working with children, and I love the pace and intensity of the intensive care unit. My dream job will be in the pediatric intensive care unit. Another reason I love working with children is that they are so resilient. To me, they fight so much harder than adults. I also am very intrigued by the cardiovascular system. It is fascinating how every body system works together and the heart is the pump needed to sustain life throughout the entire body. I think eventually I would like to work as a pediatric cardiothoracic nurse. I want to start as a pediatric ICU nurse and then train to cardiothoracic. I like learning…

For four years I have know that ETSU was where I wanted to obtain my Nurse Practitioner Degree. I have been obsessed with the medical field for as long as I remember. I was that child who was always watching things like Grey’s Anatomy, Untold Stories of the ER, and HOUSE instead of normal kid shows. From the moment I learned that I could obtain my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) licence in high school and work my way up, I knew that was what I wanted to do. In all my science classes I strived to learn everything I could. Any health class offered, I have took. My life has been consumed with learning, studying, and volunteering in any health care area. By the time my senior year came, in my own mind I felt I was already a nurse. That is when I got the biggest reality check.…

One of the most difficult tasks in life is choosing a career path. Individuals often question which skills, values, traits, and other qualities they possess that may or may not match up with a possible job that would spark a life-long interest. Even for myself, I am still questioning which direction I am meant to take. I started my original journey at higher education at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in an Exercise Science program destined to eventually end up with some sort of Occupational Therapy Degree because I failed at being accepted in to the Music Department. My journey quickly led me from one major to the next, to the next, and on, and on. Even as I am quite confident that Nursing is my niche, exploring other options is a highly recommended tool to ease the decisions I make in my adult life.…
