Ohio Is Better In Summer Than In The Winter
Ohio is warmer in the summer than in the winter because it is closer to the sun due to Earth rotating on a tilted axis while making revolutions around the sun. This axis that the Earth rotates on makes hemispheres of Earth closer or farther to the sun during a year, or revolution, that causes our seasons. For example in the beginning of the revolution, the Northwestern hemisphere is farthest from the sun, thus it is cold, giving us Winter. As we make our revolution around the sun, the Northwestern hemisphere becomes closer to the sun as the opposite (Southeastern) hemisphere moves away from the Sun, it becomes warmer, thus giving us summer. Since we are always making revolutions around the sun, the seasons will continue changing. This

All currents in the northern hemisphere move in a clockwise direction, while in the southern hemisphere they move in an anti-clockwise direction. Suprisngly landmasses can be responsible for changing the course of a current. Differences in temperature and salinity are also responsible for the movement of ocean water. In the equatorial region, ocean water gets more heated than in the cold polar regions. This makes the water “light”. Water in the polar regions is cold and heavy, so it sinks and flows towards the equator. The light upper layers of water are thus forced to move towards the poles where they get cooled. Some effects are winds blowing. Winds blowing over a warm current can become warm, and at the same time, pick up moisture, as warm winds are able to retain more moisture. Therefore, the wind that reaches the land brings down the temperature and can cause heavy rain. The western coast of Europe for example, is one. Winds blow cold and dry air. They help to bring down the temperatures in places, which would have been much hotter. The California current which is cold, which flows along the western coast of the U.S, makes the region much cooler than other places in the west coast on…

The climate for Denver and Wildwood it mostly different. The average rainfall and snowfall for the two cities are polar opposites. There are many differences in the cities climate. For example, Denver’s altitude is way higher than Wildwood’s. Denver’s nickname is the “Mile High City” and with the altitude being so high causes the humidity to go down on a daily basis. Wildwood’s humidity right now is 62% while Denver’s is 23%. So yes, these cities have polar opposite climates. Denver and Wildwoods climate are pretty different but they do have some similarities. For example, the average temperatures for each season are very similar. Denver’s are, Fall 60 degrees, Winter 44 degrees, Spring 66 degrees, and Summer 83. And Wildwood’s are Fall 57 degrees, Winter 38 degrees, Spring 64 degrees, and Summer 91 degrees. These overall temperatures for both cities aren’t completely different. The climate effects these two cities in ways that most people wouldn’t think of. For example, the two cities Wildwood and Denver both get at least a little bit of snow each winter (Denver more than Wildwood). And to have it snow it has to be 32 degrees or below. (Most of the time it is colder than that) When it is that cold outside you can’t go and play at the park or go ride your bikes. Sometimes it gets so cold outside we have to start are car 10 minutes early before we leave so it isn’t so cold when we get in. Not only do people that live here never get to go outside but some of the fresh fruits are not sold during the winter because we don’t have the conditions for the fruit or vegetables to grow. Fruits like watermelon, honeydew, strawberries, some bananas and other fruits are not available in most grocery stores during the months of December- early March. Some other activities people living in cold, snowy climates is when it snows or there is an ice storm you have to be careful driving if they haven’t salted the roads and shovel the…

The climate in Ecuador is different from climate in the United States. This point proves that the US climate is very cold from October to December, warm from July to September and cool around year; consequently, the United States has a marked and rigorous climate. In contrast, Ecuador climate has two specific seasons, which are rain season from November to May and dry season from June to October. Moreover, this country has no winter season. For instance, when you stay there you feel the weather that changes follow the four seasons in year and in a day such as spring is in the morning, summer is in the noon,…

San Francisco, California has cooler summers but warmer winter as opposed to Saint Louis, Missouri. There are many things that affect this situation such as California being closer to water, Air Temperature/water temperature is cooler, and the water temperature is 27°. First, California is closer to the water. This results in cooler summers and warmer winters because there is a smaller temperature change in water rather than soil when it is exposed to heat. Saint Louis isn’t near any large body of water, which results in the Air/soil temperature being warmer. It also has a greater temperature change when exposed to heat so this means there are hotter summers but colder winters.…

It is warmer in the summer than in the winter in Ohio. When it is summer in Ohio the sun is at its furthest north point and when the sun is at its most southern point it is winter in Ohio. In summer the Earth is inclined toward the sun and sunlight shines almost straight down. The noon summer sun is higher in the sky and the winter sun is lower as it casts longer winter shadows. The summer sun rises in the northwest and sets in the same direction. Thus, the sun spends more than 12 hours in the sky during the summer which is why it is warmer in the summer in Ohio. The sun is almost completely direct on the northern latitudes during the summer in Ohio causing warmer temperatures. Many people believe that the temperature changes between summer…

Temperatures in spring and fall lie between the extremes of winter and summer, but can fluctuate significantly within a short time span as warm and cold air masses battle for control. This clash of differing air masses causes severe weather, particularly in spring, which is peak tornado season in the state. Spring is also the wettest time of the year and can bring floods, whereas autumn tends to be much drier, often the sunniest and least humid…

By the global conveyor belt transferring heat, it affects the climate. The Gulf Stream is a part of the thermohaline circulation, it is another current that allows Western Europe to be warmer in winter then any other country at the same latitude. The La Niña can be referred to as the extensive cooling of the Pacific Ocean, it is often accompanied by much warmer sea water then the surface temperatures (SSTs) in the western Pacific Ocean, and the north of Australia. The El Niño is currently the best known extreme of the Southern Oscillation, it is also classified as one of the most important influences on the climate in Australia. (Pearson, 2015). Surface currents keep the Earth's temperatures normal. As surface currents travel, they absorb the heat from the tropical regions surrounding the equator and release it into the colder regions near the North and South Pole. Deep water currents move extremely slow,…

Therefore on December 21st in Boston, MA, when the peak height of the sun was 24˚, the peak temperature was 1˚ celsius. This proves that all year round, in any locations, when the sun is at a lower angle the temperatures will be cold or when the angle of the sun is higher than the temperatures will be warm. The Earth always has the same tilt year round at 23.5 towards the north star, yet what make the hemispheres get different direct light is when the Earth makes its orbit around the sun. At one side of the orbit, the Northern Hemisphere is getting directs sunlight, while on the other is the Southern Hemisphere getting direct sunlight, all because of the fact that at different points of the year only one hemisphere can get direct sunlight because of the tilt, therefore the other hemisphere has to have indirect sunlight, causing colder temperatures. In between the two points were the hemispheres have their summers is spring and fall, where neither hemispheres are having their peak warmth or cold. At these points, neither hemispheres are facing the sun, leaving the two hemisphere to have equal direct sunlight, temperatures and daylight hours, all because the tilt of the Earth at the…

    Does The Earth Rotates?

As the earth rotates, it has a slight tilt that causes seasons to occur. When the earth is tilted towards the sun, the northern hemisphere experiences summer. The sunlight at this point shines directly on the northern portion of the earth, while hitting the southern areas at an angle that spreads the solar energy out and decreases the intensity of the heat. The direct nature of the sunlight around the summer solstice causes the summer to be much warmer than the winter in Ohio. During the summer, the way the sun rises and sets means that it spends much more time in the sky as well. Longer days and more exposure to solar energy also feed the hotter temperatures of summer. In the winter, the northern hemisphere is tilted away from the sun, and…

Arizona's population grows in the winter when "snowbirds" migrate to the nice calm and cool weather. In Maricopa county, which covers the entire Phoenix Metropolitan area of Arizona in which I grew up, the weather is very predictable throughout the year. It is a popular state in winter because there are not any storms that pass through and temperatures do not get very cold. The coldest temperature Maricopa had reached was 26 degrees in December. Unlike most other places, in Maricopa, rain is rare, and snow is unheard of. During the summer that population dwindles back to its normal numbers. Snowbirds leave back to their home states to get out of the heat. Summer temperatures can reach up to 122 degrees! A vacation to Arizona during the Summer must be carefully planned if you are not used to these high temperatures. Summer is also "monsoon season". Monsoons bring bursts of heavy rain from the Gulfs of Mexico and California. Arizona gets over half of its rain from monsoon season. But monsoon season also brings "haboobs" which are heavy dust storms which you can hardly see through. Although it can be troublesome or even scary while driving, it is quite an experience to go thru a haboob. The mountains surround you in every direction covered in wildlife and cactus as the amazing sunsets linger over them in swirls of purple, pink, and orange hues. California also has beautiful sunsets, my favorites are over the green rolling hills or the big city buildings. The annual average temperature in Contra Costa County, Californina is much cooler than Arizona at about 60 degrees. Summer temperatures stay anywhere…
