Nick Somoski's Argument For High School Students Working
Being a High School Student and Working Part Time
There has been an argument stating whether students should be able to maintain a part time job. There are many students in today’s society that are doing it, but that does not make it right or wrong. Stating which one is right or which one is wrong would be irrelevant to others, seeing how it would be just an opinion and not scientifically proven. This argument is a complex issue with many different opposing view-points. The first article ,by Thomas Lu, gives encouragement that students should work and also go to school. Although he starts the article off by stating that millions of students work and go to high school and pull it off really well, he gives an opposing view-point stating that a part-time job is to much for a student to juggle while going to school. Somoski says that because times are hard right now, more students are feeling like they have know other choice but to enter the work force in order to maintain a source of income. He implies that more students are working now then ever and know one really has a problem with it, however, he feels like working is not necessarily beneficial in short-terms, nor long-terms. Somoski admits that he believes that having a part-time job and going to school does teach students responsibility. He says that it will teach students how to better communicate with people and learn how to better balance their priorities at a younger age.
