Folk tale, fairy tales, and fables have been used for generations and have been passed down from generation to generation to teach children about morals, what’s right and wrong, cultures and believes. The emotional connection to feelings that children develop from them will help them develop a sense of belonging. Folk tales, fairy tales and fables have changed over time depending on how and where they are told but the outcomes are always the same.…

This type of laboratory format is more analytical than the traditional lab, and will require that you understand the methodology and concepts to a greater degree. The narrative format for laboratory reporting lets you tell the story of the lab by writing an essay. The narrative should incorporate all of the important elements of a traditional lab report but utilize a style that is continuous and flowing. This storytelling style answers the following questions:…

I strongly believe that if one is to be successful in society, setting goals and prioritizing them is very crucial. Having your goals set and prioritizing them does not only give you a clear focus on things you have to do, but it helps you to organize your plans so that you can set time limit and boundaries in achieving those goals. There are so many goals that I want to achieve my life. Since goals can only be achieved if they are realistic, timing and attainable, I have categorized my goals into long and short term goals.…

Freshman year, it was my first time doing track. I really wanted to do shot put because my dad and my aunt did it in high school and they were very good. I tried to do the glide at first and then rotational, but then I realized I should stick with the glide. I didn't really know if I'd like it but I still tried it. Once I tried shot put I fell in love with it. I always wanted to do it. All through the season, I did a technique called the glide. That was the normal high school technique. For a freshman and a new thrower, I did very well. That summer I went to a camp and I learned a new technique called rotational that many college throwers do. I found it to be very fun, so I thought that I'd try it during the school season. I practiced it…

V for Vendetta (V4V) is the first film by director James McTeigue and was released in 2005. V4V is set in a very near futuristic London which is now under control by a very strict & fascist government which controls what the public believes through their materialised media network. One night, London is rocked by a bombing of the crown court followed soon by a mysterious character simply named ‘V’ taking over the news network and revealing his agenda to the public. A determined experienced detective is on the trail of ‘V’ but also finds out himself about the corruption within the government and a personal vendetta that V holds against the government. The way the narrative is delivered can easily be described as mainstream because of how the lives of the main & supporting actors change within the period of the film, for example the detective at the beginning is at peace, he is then exposed to trouble & corruption & then at the end he returns to peace after all, this can be described as a ‘Equilibrium – Disturbance – Equilibrium’ which is usually evident within movies with a ‘mainstream’ narrative. I think that a film with this type of story is best told with a mainstream, straight forward narrative because in the film there are many time gaps which are not so obvious for example the character eavy leaves ‘V’s hideout for quite some time but returns within 5 minutes of the film, even though she had been gone for months. Since it is obvious this film was aimed at mainstream audiences, films with a similar plot (1984, Akira, Oldboy) have never been too popular with mainstream audiences but because of V4V’s modern, stylish & cool visual combined with its appealing mainstream storytelling techniques it has become more popular than most within its unique genre.…

We all had that friend that always had a story to tell. Years later I find out that story telling is a big part of communication. Walter fish wrote that all meaning full communication comes from storytelling, which is referred to as narrative paradigm. We use narrative paradigm every day to help us remember people, places, and things. We also use narrative paradigm to help us make decisions in life. Not all narrative paradigms are useful and relevant; some are just for entertainment purpose.…
