I strongly believe that if one is to be successful in society, setting goals and prioritizing them is very crucial. Having your goals set and prioritizing them does not only give you a clear focus on things you have to do, but it helps you to organize your plans so that you can set time limit and boundaries in achieving those goals. There are so many goals that I want to achieve my life. Since goals can only be achieved if they are realistic, timing and attainable, I have categorized my goals into long and short term goals.
Presently, I am taking my basics for my nursing program at the Tarrant County College (TCC) North West campus. I chose TCC because it is close to my house, it is cheaper when compared to other colleges, also all my family in the state attended TCC. In other words, attending TCC has been a family tradition. Another important reason why I chose TCC is because it serves as a motivation for student who may want to further their education at university level. My first goal which is also a short time goal is to have an ‘A’ in all my modules. This is very crucial to me because I want to enroll in the nursing program which is very competitive. The nursing program at TCC takes about three years to complete with a minimum of 12 semester and 72 credit hours. For me to accomplish this goal and make it a reality, I have tried my best to turn in assignment on due dates, participate in and do all class work because the grades from the assignment and class work will help boost my grades higher. Other than the assignments and class work, I have disciplined myself to study every day for at least three hours on each subject and also use the library to do my research .
Having my associate degree in applied sciences is just the beginning of my educational goal. My dream is to earn bachelor in nursing at the Texas Christian University (TCU). I am also planning to work for at least five years as a nurse, and do a Masters in Public Health.
This takes me

Though I subsequently lightened my course load, I occupied the remainder of my time devoting myself to various volunteer opportunities with diverse client populations. I believe familiarity with the hands on aspect of nursing is as essential as my education. I maintained my grades while balancing multiple volunteer opportunities to gain priceless experience caring for individuals with varying demands. Upon admission to UBCO, I will embrace the opportunity to start a full time course load while continuing the compassion and empathy I learned.…

I am an average 16 year who just can’t wait to grow up and face the real world and not have to worry about any rules or restrictions. On January 12th, 1996, my parents named me Asmaa, so I have to stick with that name for the rest of my life. Personally, I like the name because it’s the name of a very great person; more of a hero in Islam. Names in my family go with a pattern; but this only goes for girls. The pattern is the double ‘A’ at the end of the name. Shaymaa is the leader of the tribe yet she doesn’t control any of us. Next in line are me and my twin sister Alyaa. We are the decision makers in the household, everyone takes our opinion before doing anything or taking any steps .I would like to mention that I am the older twin; but that doesn’t really help me in anyway because she is treated as the ‘wiser one’. I am known as the smiley easy going twin and Alyaa is known as the serious harsher twin. There are 5 years between Omar and me, which makes me the mature older sister that he could come to for advice. Esraa is the little seven year old diva of the house. She likes to imitate models and celebrities and act like she rules the planet. The sixth child is five year old Tarek who just entered grade one this September. He believes that the world can’t survive without superheroes. Last but certainly not least is my life and my smile, the little flower of the house; Alaa. She is a year and 3 months old. In my mind; she completes the package very well. We kids call ourselves The Power of Seven. We’re 5 girls against 2 guys. Fortunately for us girls, we gang up against the guys and we always get what we want. The girls rule the house because they know how to fight for what they want, they know how to put up a good argument, and plus they’re the majority. Speaking of majority, I am two years away from being an official adult and getting the right to vote; a year and 4 months and day to be exact. I really want…

Since I had started school and writing composition, I have had experiences that either was good or bad. But at the end these experience helped me through my next and future years of school and college. One of the incidents that most marked my writing experience was in sophomore year. The prompt was doing a resume for college, and I actually did or tried my best, but then again the result wasn't so good. The resume was almost completely marked by red writings, of my grammar. All though the professor gave us many opportunities to make it right, every time I got it back it seems as if nothing had change. And it was then that I realized I haven't had done some things right. I learned two things not to stress and always have my ideas on the same topic.…

Learning something new can be a very scary experience. Of course I think I can discover and have discovered something original from every incident in my life, but sometimes I wish there had been easier ways to gain those insights. Sometime in June of the year 2001, when I arrived to the United States from Brazil, my parents and I were welcomed at the airport by this very nice lady whose name was Romy. My dad would be taking Romy's job in a few weeks, and I assume it was her duty to show us around the new town and to get us acquainted with living in Maryland. She took us shopping for basic necessities and soon after that, since we would soon need to move around on our own, we went hunting for a car. We went to several car dealerships and finally ended up in Chambersburg. We were about to move on to another place when it started to drizzle. We got inside the vehicle, made a left at the exit of the automobile dealership, and as soon as we were back on the road, a couple of feet ahead the light turned red. Initially I though Romy would have plenty of time to stop. However, she was not able to and ended up hitting one of the cars that had already come to a halt at the signal. The accident, despite being awful, was meaningful to me because I learned some driving techniques, I learned about the importance of wearing a seat belt, and I learned that I am not supposed to step out of my car whenever an accident happens.…

While my boss entered the office, my head was full of many thoughts about why me, and how will I get other job like this. In the meantime, my boss asked me about my family with a big smile; this is was so weird for me, assuming that the meeting was to fire me. I was very nervous because it was the first time that I had a meeting with him in private so I just gave him a short answer “They’re good in Venezuela” without any details. He started to ask me other questions like how do I feel in this company? And what did I think about some changes that he wanted to do in the company? At this time, instead of thinking about my firing, I started to think that this meeting was something good after all my nervousness.…

All of my life I have been intrigued and inspired from all or most of today’s action sports. I remember growing up watching X Games, Dew Tour, Red Bull pro events, and even the Olympics. I loved watching the professional athletes go down the mega ramp on their skateboards, or do tricks on the street course on their bikes, or even the motocross riders doing insane trick on their dirt bikes. This all inspired me as a kid because out of all the things you could choose to do as a career these athletes chose to put their lives on the line to do the sport they love. They fought, every year, for who could go bigger and who could create a new trick just to earn sponsor money, a trophy, or a medal, but the one thing you realize after watching an interview or documentary on the rider is that they do it because that is who they are. They ride for the thrill and because they love to do it. Not everyone is able to do half of the things professional athletes in action sports can do. So knowing and seeing this definitely inspired me as a kid. All of this inspiration from watching action sports as a kid finally leads me to the sport of wakeboarding, which I still enjoy to this day.…

Larry suddenly woke up from a deep sleep. The sun was dazzling his half-open eyes, and he couldn’t figure out what time it was. The door to his room was closed; the house was immersed in some sort of reckless silence. He slowly got out of his bed and approached the bench right next to the window. For a moment, he thought, he heard a tapping sound coming from the attic. Then again he heard the sound, only this time it seemed to be somewhat closer. He looked outside the window and saw a man going by the left side of the road. On seeing Larry, the man approached his garden’s fence and whistled. At this point, Larry recognized Nick and waved his hand. He quickly got dressed and was about the get down to open the gate, but he again heard someone murmuring in the other part of the house. Larry decided to go to the attic and see what was causing this, now buzzing, sound. He got to the second floor of his house and looked toward the attic. He quickly opened its door and looked inside. Nothing was found. He was about to turn back and attend to his guest when he, suddenly, slipped on the stairs and fell. He called out to Nick to help him get up.…

Old Tom limped down the street in the warm rain. He was heading for the bar on the corner of Henderson Boulevard where he regularly went for an ice cold brew on hot summer afternoons. Come to think of it, he didn’t so much drink his beer, as sit in the corner nursing the same glass for hours at a time watching those perfectly round chilled droplets hit the mahogany countertop. A young sporting type, who looked remarkably similar to his youngest boy, approached him and offered him a drink but Tom just shook his fist and discretely muttered a few curses under his breath. He spoke to no-one, and after a while rose slowly from his chair and hobbled slowly towards the door.…
