My Important Person There are people in this world who have chosen celebrities, government officials, and even fictional characters as their role models. For me, the person I chose, without any delay or second query, with a benevolence that increases within every hour, is my mother. Every day she comes with the weight of the world upon her shoulders and still manage to feed her five children’s basic and emotional needs. Since my father lost his job six years ago, my mother has been working double shifts to support our family without a word of complaint. That has taught me the importance of hard work, but even more so, the importance of a successful education and career. My father, being on the opposite side of the spectrum, has never valued school on. He had to drop out of school in the tenth grade to support his family. Often he would tell my brothers and me that school was a waste of time and money, but that never stopped my mother from pushing us to continue our education. My mother has emphasized and passed on the importance of education to me. Whenever I am on the verge of failing, I feel as if the earth could simply stop turning. I hear her voice of disapproval and see the pain in her eyes. She sacrifices her days off, giving up free time and rest. Seeing her hard work has encouraged me to try my best in what I do.
My mother passed on charitable traits to me. For example, whenever we see the homeless or the needy, we give a little of what we have even though it’s not much. I have always admired my mother’s devotion to her children, her selflessness, her generosity, and her optimism. There were times that I would felt that I couldn’t do anything effectively. I have never been the smartest, the most useful, or the most confident person, but my mother had always seen me differently and made sure I thought highly of myself. This nurturing experience has taught me acceptance of other individuals despite their flaws. She does whatever she can to help us
