It's time for me to become a star. I mean, I love to act. It's my all-consuming passion. I could be discovered by Disney. I'm cute, I'm perky . .
Yes, that's the answer. I'll post a video on Youtube. Why, I'll be famous before you know it. Look at me! Youtube Diva. (strikes a dramatic pose).

On Tuesday, the “spy” rides the bus. I don't think he's really a spy but if he is, he's the world's worse spy. He is always coming up to me and asking if I have the microdot. Microdot? What's a microdot? I used to tell him no but) then he would go ballistic, ducking (duck down) and cowering away from

For the past seventy-eight years, Disney has been creating disney princess movies, a phenomenon that has swept the world, with worldwide gross of up to six hundred million dollars. Little girls from the age of two watch and enjoy these chauvinist movies, spending hundreds on outfits so that they can resemble their most idealized princess. The official disney princess line-up includes Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel, and Merida. While a single caucasian girl’s dream is blossoming, dreaming about the multiple princesses she could grow up to be, an african american girl’s is falling to pieces, with only a single idealized role model to chose from. The sound of kids laughing ringed through my ears as the Disney All-Star Movies transportation bus pulled up to the parking lot at Walt Disney World Resort. My stomach began to turn as the butterflies fluttered rapidly. I trailed behind my family as we walked towards the opening gates. My smile stretched across my face, and my cheeks began to feel sore. I listened as my mom gave her safety instructions. I was ready to go. I was ready to ride the rides. I was ready see the famous Disney Castle. Step by wicked step, my boots sank further and further into the thick, red-tinged land as if the devil himself were dragging my body straight into the depths of hell. The rhythmic squelching stabbed through my rubber soles, radiating pain throughout my soul as it seared everything in its path. Squelch, squelch, squish. My tempo was interrupted by those cursed boots refusing to budge from the stubborn terrain. As if taunting me, the earth unhooked my feet from the damned soil…

Over the course of the past 80 years we have seen major growth in the company of Disney and the way it presents itself to the rest of the world. One of the many ways Disney presents itself is by the animated films they produce, more specifically, the princess films, that we all know and love. In this paper, I will explore the role and functions of the Disney princesses over the past 80 years and discuss their differences. In particular, the femme fatales we see when Walt Disney was in charge, and how it is the princess rather than the hero who becomes the central figure in these films. On the other side, I will look at Team Disney and how they turn the princesses from damsels to more democratic.…

"Hi my name is Rachel Berry and I'll be singing "On My Own" from the seminal Broadway classic Les Mis. You might laugh because every time I sign my name I put a gold star after it, but it's a metaphor. And metaphors are important. My gold stars are a metaphor. For me. Being a star. [...] You might think that all the boys in school would totally be into me, but my MySpace schedule keeps me way too busy to date. I try to post a My Space video every day just to keep my talent alive and growing. Nowadays, being anonymous is worse than being poor. Fame is the most important thing in our culture now, and if there's one thing I've learned, it's that no one's going to just hand it to you. My extensive auditioning for Community Theater has taught me that you either want to go first or last. If you're first then everyone has to measure up to you. And if you're last then you're the freshest in the judges' minds. School pictures are everything to me. They're great practice for the paparazzi. Snap out of this.…

The bitter night Avah was killed the whole town was out celebrating. The Spring Festival was an annual affair and only the most isolated of persons would have not been there. It was a festival meticulously planned out by those intrigued in such matters and each detail was carried out to exact perfection. The Humphrey family would perform a skit each year at exactly six-thirty, the mayor would grace the audience with a well-planned speech at six-forty-five. At seven o’clock the potluck dessert would be brought out by the women and then once a half hour had passed, enough time for the people to converse with each other, the festival games would begin.…

Ages two to six are years where advertisements, and “everyone’s doing it” are crucial influences for behavioral patterns. The Princess doll merchandise and is everywhere, and very popular. Today, not buying a female child her rightful amount of Princess gear is almost insuring her unpopularity among peers and social Siberia. Although the Princess storylines appear to be aimed at teaching good morals and happy-ever-after, there is an underlying gender rigidity theme scholar and/or parents like Orenstein have begun to pick up on. To be a Princess is to be dependent on a male figure, the “Prince Charming,” as a “saving…

It is not a hyperbole to say that most classic Disney princesses are animated embodiments of female stereotypes. These “timeless” girls are frivolous, lack personality, and rarely do much besides clean, sing, and charm suitors with their smiles. Though some may argue displaying stereotypes doesn’t necessarily reinforce them, research shows “the more little girls engage with princess culture, the more they behave in stereotypically feminine ways”…
