Miss Tree University Accomplishment
Many people have great accomplishments in their life but as a young adult I have only lived a mere eighteen years. I have accomplished many awards through sports and academics that would probably be something to brag about. Accomplishments through academics is what most people would write a college application essay on but being different I am going to write of an accomplishment that not many people can say they have. The accomplishment I am going to write about is becoming Miss Tree City 2014. Miss Tree City is a local pageant for my community’s fall festival. I decided to write about this because I am not the typical pageant girl. I live on a horse farm and care for and show horses. I am probably more of the stereotypical tomboy. I have …show more content…
I never walked in heels a lot, let alone on stage. I was really nervous because the whole time I was thinking what if I trip, fall, and then eat the stage with my face. Once the pageant started I felt comfortable for some reason I still haven't fully figured out. I walked out in my outfit of choice first. It was more of my tomboy side with the jeans and shirt but I was not about ready to attempt a pageant with the first outfit not being something I was going to be uncomfortable in. After I successfully had walked on stage in the bright lights and had left the stage, it was time to change into business wear. Just to get back on stage and do it all again, walk to the marker, pause for five seconds and continue to the second, and so on. Once the business wear was complete I knew it was the dreaded formal wear with my new long sparkly dress with four inch heels. Along with walking on stage in heels and a long dress that was uncomfortable I had to answer an impromptu question. I have no problem speaking to people but once I get on stage and I am handed a microphone I am not sure what could happen. I answered my question with grace and not a stutter in my …show more content…
I was sitting backstage waiting to be called back up for crowning to get it over with and get out of the very uncomfortable dress. Finally they called the contestants back on stage. I stood at the very end of the contestant line. The first award the announced was Miss Congeniality, the announcer spoke into the microphone and stated Morgan Nobbe as the winner of the award. They placed a sash on my shoulder and continued on with the award ceremony. Next was second runner up and first runner up and like in sports I applauded for the winners. Finally it was down to the big award, the one that everyone had wanted. I stood there thinking I got Miss Congeniality and one of the older girls would win but was happy I was not going home empty handed and I had something to show that I stepped out of my comfort zone. The announcer began to announce the winner of the pageant and I was ready to clap but then the unthinkable happened, the announcer said my name. I am pretty sure that I went into shock when Miss Tree City 2013 was placing the crown on my head. Who would have thought that a short farm girl would win a

The things listed above are things that stand out because I do aim to succeed and to reach my goals and going to college has been a lifetime goal that I have reached and succeeded in doing even with all the challenges and obstacles that have been put in my way. In addition, reading and writing and always learning is something that is ongoing and even though I am in college I still take free online courses to continue learning about new topics and subjects that interest me. Furthermore, detecting nuances in data and information that people generally overlook can be a benefit in many ways because when looking at social policies finding issues with the policies can bring about advocating for others and fixing things that may not work and bringing that information to the attention of others is an…

Only being in the 11th grade, there are not any groundbreaking achievements I have made so far. One accomplishment that still stands out to me is when I was the only freshman to be interviewed and picked to be Bio-Med officer. This still holds a special place because it was defeinly one of my proudest moments. I am not the smartest person, or the best. I make mistakes, but I always try my hardest and put passion into everything I do. I was competing against 25 other freshman, and I was able to be the only 9th grader picked. My comeption wad tough, and some of the most intelligent people were also competing for this position. This definetlyl made me realize that being the smartest person is not everything. I had passion, and I truly cared about…

I was mortified, unable to even muster the courage to look my chorus teacher in the eye for several days afterward. I nearly developed a fear of entering the performing arts building and I avoided the stage as much as I possibly could for the next few weeks. It wasn’t until several weeks later, while engaged in a lighthearted conversation with a few fellow theatre classmates, that I even discussed my audition with anyone. They mentioned to me that they had all also auditioned for Into the Woods, and I, half-joking, half-terrified, asked them if they saw me choke up on stage, to which they all had the exact same response:…

The first would be my administrative tasks as a Resident Assistant. I consistently turned in papers, forms, and completed task on time or before the deadline. This also included emailing and updating my supervisor about any resident conflicts or situations that occurred. I feel that this is an accomplishment because I was able to keep the line of communication open to my supervisor and ensured that all information was given in a timely manner. Another accomplishment I achieved over the past semester was being flexible to my other Resident Assistants. There were many times when last minute another Resident Assistant needed to switch duty days or had an emergency situation and I was able to cover for them. For example, during the semester one Resident Assistant needed to go to the hospital last minute and needed someone to cover. Despite it being last minute and on a Friday night, I was able to take the duty day. This is an accomplishment because I felt like I was a vital member of the team and that people could rely on me to step up to the plate when need…

“My reasons for college are probably just like everyone else’s. I went to college because I wanted a better life for myself and better myself. I wanted to find a job that I would not be living paycheck to paycheck like my parents had to do when they first got married. I mean, no one wants to live that way? I know for a fact that I did not want that, and that is why I choose to go to college, even more than is the main reason why college was so important to me. Another reason, both my parents didn’t go to college but have archived success in the new world‘s eyes, I believe children from a young age watch and look up to those in their life. Such as word ethic and things like that, yes, they’re times that even with a terrible person to look up to that person becomes a hard working because they want to be the opposite of that person, sadly that does not happen too often. Plus I get to play one of my favorite sport which is track and field.…
