Savannah State University Scholarship Essay
As a humble alumna of Savannah State University, I believe I have much to achieve in life. As the youngest of four siblings who all value education and prosperity, I was taught to excel in everything I do. I am a native of Savannah, Georgia and I have lived here all of my life. Due to great effort and my love for learning, I received a four year academic scholarship to Savannah State University (which I am so grateful for).
From Savannah High School's 2012 Salutatorian, I have become a proud honor graduate of Savannah State University's College of Business Administration. Upon enrolling at Savannah State University my mission was to show others that you do not have to go off to college to be successful and accomplish great things. My plans

My freshman year at Spelman wasn’t one for the books, it wasn’t the definition of #goals, it wasn’t full of memories, in fact it was probably one of the hardest years of my life. For as long as I can remember, I was always a well-known member of my school’s student body. I was the girl teachers requested, I made everything I ever tried out for, and in every leadership position in almost every club. I can confidently say high school was great and I thought college would be even better.…

I am always optimistic even as a high school senior that one day it can be done. It is going to defnitely take some time before our current leaders realize the need to embrace change and stop worthless politics of hunger for power and money. The community and the world around us have become hostile even to innocent human beings. People are increasingly becoming selfish and full of greed with the mind of amassing wealth in banks as they oppress the poor. I wish I had the power to act immediately and stop these scandalous behaviors which have become fatal. However, if I had the power to change the community and the world, I would target three things: poverty pattern, disease burden and leadership.…

My parents are from Jamaica and never fully completed their education. I've always had to make the most of financial aid and luck. My parents are definitely not rich but we've always found ways to pay for what we need. My sister just enrolled at Cornell University almost entirely through financial aid and merit based scholarships.…
