I have had the opportunity to receive great encouragement from people in my life. This has led me to where I am today, which is the desire to become a medical assistant in a children’s hospital. Ever since I was a young girl, I have been interested in anything that is medical related. This goes from playing doctor to my dolls and friends, to becoming a certified nurse’s aide (CNA) at the age of 18. My mother is working towards her goal of becoming a registered nurse after overcoming breast cancer. I also have a cousin and a couple of aunts who are nurses whom I look to whenever I get frustrated with achieving my goal. When taking …show more content…
A medical assistant’s most basic task is similar to that of a receptionist. They answer phones, book appointments and greet patients along with a few other ordinary duties. However, the exact responsibility of each assistant varies from office to office. Clinical medical assistants are a type of assistant that has more duties that which can differ according to state law. Certain tasks for these assistants may possibly include preparing a patient for an examination, taking down vital signs or clarifying an upcoming procedure. To perform well in this field you have to be comfortable interacting with children at all times. You will be given a lot to handle at once, being organized and responsible is also essential. Most medical assistants are full time workers, pulling in 40 or more hours a week, but there are also positions for part-time employees or those who are looking to work at night or on weekends …show more content…
There is plenty of room for advancement in this field. Some assistants go on for more education in order to become nurses or other types of health care provider. You are able to interact with and help so many children each and every day. A medical assistant is expected to take meticulous care of their patients in every capacity. The best part of being a medical assistant in a children’s hospital is interacting with children and taking away their illness. This is by far the greatest rewarding feeling that one could possibly ever have. Taking care of patients is also part of the treatment process. Treating someone is not just a diagnosis as they can be helped in many different ways. Patients at times come in because they may have issues in their life that they can’t handle and may just need someone to listen, understand and treat them and medical assistants exceed expectations in doing
