2 What is the national median salary for the specific job you want to pursue? a After doing some research, I found that the national median salary for medical assistants is $14.24 hourly and $29,610 annually (bls.gov).
3 What is the demand for jobs in your geographical area (or where you plan to live after graduation)? a California has 82,450 positions of employment, with an hourly mean wage of $16.37 and an annual mean wage of $34,050 (bls.gov).
4 Are there any required professional certifications (besides the degree you will complete at Kaplan) you will need to perform certain duties of the job? If so, how do you plan to meet the criteria for applying and obtaining the extra education? a In order to become a medical assistant one must also take and pass the CMA certification examination (aama-ntl.org). I am currently furthering my education to become a medical assistant. My next steps are to graduate and take the certification exam.
5 Are there certain program accreditations required from your educational institution to perform certain jobs in your chosen field? Does Kaplan have that accreditation? a There are certain accreditations an education institution must have. Kaplan University is an accredited higher education institution.
6 What is the overall job outlook for your chosen field? a Between 2012 and 2022 the employment of medical assistants is projected to grow 29 percent. There will also be a bigger demand for assistants (bls.gov).
