Mechanical Engineering Career
The engineering field I have chosen is Mechanical Engineering. Mechanical engineering is a very broad field; mechanical engineers have the opportunity to work in a wide spectrum of fields. Some mechanical engineers can work for a company testing and improving upon their products. Mechanical engineers love to take things apart and to find out how they work. This being the basis for mechanical engineering it gives a mechanical engineer many options so you won’t ever be bored. Mechanical Engineers rely heavily on Mathematics and Physics. As these are essential in designing and producing a product Mechanical engineers have to be precise in their calculations because working in such industries as Aerospace, Automotive Technology ,Electronics, and product development if they are not you can serious injure or even kill someone. Mechanical Engineers also have to be able to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, blueprints and computer generated reports. Mechanical Engineers have to study equipment failures to diagnose faulty operation. Other responsibilities vary from company to company. However, in general the field of Mechanics encompasses everything that involves motion.

University of California Berkeley has a student faculty ratio of 17:1, an acceptance rate of 21%, and tuition of $18,039 per term. For an option a little closer to home there is University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. UCCS has a student faculty ratio of 16:1, an acceptance rate of 67%, and tuition of $4,500 per term.
To prepare for entering a college engineering program many colleges suggest you take some

Mechanical engineers are connected with the production and processing of energy and with providing the means of production, the tools of transportation, and the techniques of automation. The skill and knowledge base are extensive. Among the disciplinary bases are mechanics of solids and fluids, mass and momentum transport, manufacturing processes, and electrical and information theory. Mechanical engineering design involves all the trainings in mechanical engineering. Real problems resist compartmentalization. A simple journal bearing involves fluid flow, heat transfer, friction, energy transport, material selection, thermo mechanical treatments, statistical descriptions, and so on.…

The nature of engineering is learning to apply scientific and mathematical principles towards developing solutions of technical problems. Engineers are the secret link between scientific discoveries and the commercial applications that meet consumer needs. Many engineers develop new products in which components are precisely specified. For instance, the product must be effective, reliable, safe, and be sold at a decent price. This process applies to the development of chemicals, computers, power plants, helicopters, and much much more. These engineers supervise factory production, determine causes of machinery failure and test goods so to maintain quality. (Career Info)…

Having grown up in a household with a „hands-on‟ father, I became interested in the technological aspects of life from a young age. My passion for technology was the deciding factor in choosing a technical high school over an academic high school. I completed grade 12 in Rhodesfield High School with Mechanical Engineering as technical subject. My secondary education was complemented in 2006 with a National Diploma in Mechatronic Engineering from Tshwane University of Technology. In 2011, I realised that I needed to expand my knowledge in the technical environment to stay competitive, and thus enrolled for a part time Bachelor of Technology degree in…

I personally feel that there is substantial cachet to be gained by pursuing the field of Mechanical Engineering. The diversity present in this field has attracted me and it is consistent with my enthusiasm for Mathematics and Science. It has a lot of scope as well. I have gone through the entire gist of the course and the specific areas which interested me were Manufacturing Technology, Operations Research and Industrial Management. Were the other subjects which enabled me to blend the required action whenever a problem was posed to me. I have enjoyed myself learning about the theory behind engineering applications, and I have also enjoyed the experiences I have had with experimentation and research. There is something extremely satisfying about performing an experiment oneself, analyzing the data retrieved, and interpreting the results in a meaningful way. I have the zeal to develop self inspiration and the talent to work in a consistent manner. I believe that Science and Mathematics are cohesive. By studying Mathematics, I have gained the skills which help me solve real life…
