Meat Tenderizer Research Paper
If the type of meat is pork chop, then the mass will increase. This project is about how carbonated drinks can be meat tenderizers. Raw meat is being used because if the mass of raw meat is decreased by carbonated drinks then the carbonated drink has a chance of decreasing the mass of foods ingested by humans. This project is interesting because if the mass of meat changes with carbonated drinks then that proves that carbonated drinks can act like meat tenderizers. The achievement of this project is to prove if humans really have to spend more money for a meat tenderizer or can humans use the carbonated drinks from the home.
There is history of similar projects and the carbonated drink was Coke. The meats used were steak, chicken breast,

The purpose of the project was to see if Dr. Pepper is a meat tenderizer like Coke. The type of meat used which were pork chop, beef roast, and chicken breast is the independent variable. The mass of meat in grams is the dependent variable. The constants are the size of the beaker, temperature of the air surrounding, the amount of Dr. Pepper, the time the meat spent in the Dr. Pepper, and the original mass of meat. The results after being in the Dr. Pepper is the pork chop 16.1 grams, chicken breast 13.5 grams, beef roast 13.1 grams. The results of the distilled water were and vinegar were.The hypothesis which stated that the mass of the pork chop will increase was supported because the results was 16.1 grams and the chicken breast and beef roast results came out to the thirteens. If the experiment was repeated the type of meat would be changed and the type carbonated drink would change just to see if more than just Coke and Dr. Pepper are meat tenderizers. The possible experimental errors are the way the meat is weighed either with the Dr. Pepper all drained off or some of the Dr. Pepper still dripping off of the meat can change the mass of the meat if the other meats were weighed the other way. The beaker used could have been contaminating the meat inside of the beaker causing the meat to react in any different

    Cheetos are cornmeal snacks with a variety of different flavors. Invented in 1948 by Charles Elmer Doolin, who owned Frito Lay. In the experiment we will be using Flaming Hot Cheetos. A crunchy but yet spicy little snack. In a bag of Flamin Hot Cheetos, Frito Lay’s states it has 160 cal per 28 grams (fritolay.com). Using the cheetos we will record the mass of each cheetos used in each trial using a scale. Once we have calculated each cheetos mass we will record it on a chart. After measuring each cheetos we will then begin the experiment by first putting 20 ml of water in each tube. Then we will place the thermometer and record the start temperature of each trial. Then we will place the tube to the flame with different height differences with each trial (2 in, 3 in, and 4 in). When each reaction is placed we will then record the highest temperature the water heated too. Then we will measure the the cheeto and record the after reaction mass. Then using the nutritional value 160 cal per 28 grams we will use the equation (accepted - experimental divided by accepted multiplied by 100) to get the percent error.     Enzymes are biological catalysts. They work by lowering the activation energy needed to initiate a chemical reaction. Enzymes work within an optimal temperature and optimal pH. Enzymes are highly specific for a single substrate. The Enzyme is usually much larger in size than the substrate it binds to. In some cases, an enzyme requires something called a cofactor to begin the chemical reaction. There were four different experiments that were executed in the enzyme lab. Experiment 7.1, the first experiment, was performed to test the effect of temperature on enzymatic activity. Based on what I know about the effect of temperature on the enzymatic activity of lactase, if the lactase used in today’s lab was extracted from human cells, I hypothesize that the optimal temperature for lactase to be in is around 37 degrees Celsius, which is the average human body temperature. The second experiment performed, experiment 7.2, tested the effect of pH on enzymatic activity. Based on what I know about the effect of pH on the enzymatic activity of lactase, if the lactase used in today’s lab was extracted from human cells, I hypothesize that the optimal pH level is 7, which is the average pH level in humans. Experiment 7.3 tests enzymatic specificity. Knowing that lactase is specific for the substrate lactose, lactase will only bind to lactose and not work with the other substrate used in this experiment, maltose. The last experiment of the lab, 7.4, was done to determine the cofactors of the enzyme, lactase. I hypothesize that EDTA, a cofactor inhibitor, will have a negative effect on the reaction and lower the amount of glucose that could possibly be produced if EDTA was not present.…

    In my first exercise I analyzed data presented to me in a table (table 2) on fish population in relation to the amount of dissolved oxygen ( ppm ) in the water. The patterns indicate that when more dissolved oxygen (ppm) is present in the water, the number of fish observed increases. In developing a hypothesis for this theory, I have decided that if the amount of dissolved oxygen (ppm) is added to the water, then more fish we be observed, than water without adding dissolved oxygen to the water. My approach would be to devise an experiment in which the amount of dissolved oxygen (ppm) can be changed in a controlled manner, then measure and record the changes.
