Mandala Essay

A mandala is an ancient design first made in Tibet 2,000 years ago. People use mandalas to represent who they are and what they like. Tibetans would use mandalas to calm themselves and to think about the meaning of live. Mandalas are drawn in the shape of of a circle and people draw their symbols in each part of the circle.

My first symbol is a heart and a music note. I chose these symbols because it represents my love for music. I colored the heart different colors because it represents that music gives me hope and it also represents that I like a large variety of music.

My second symbol is of different types of books, magazines and notebooks. I chose these symbols because it shows that I like to read and write. I drew mostly books because i like to read longer chapter books and i don’t usually write stories unless I think of something to write about and I like the idea.

My third symbol is of a tree. I drew this symbol because i like to go outside a lot and climb or sit down next to a tree. I usually go outside to clear my head, to listen to music, or to read. Being outside and breathing in fresh air calms me down and sort of relaxes me in a way. I also like how nature could look sometimes and how beautiful it is. I don’t like camping or anything like that, but i just like taking walks in parks or on the beach during the summer because it’s nice and calm.

My fourth symbol is of a computer and a camera. I chose these two symbols because I like to go on websites that have pictures and I like to take pictures of things that I like. I usually take pictures of things I see when I’m walking outside, my friends, friends pets or my pets, and of other random things. I also like looking at other peoples photos so I could see what they like taking pictures of.

My fifth symbol is of the theater masks. I used that symbol because I’ve always wanted to be an actor even though I’m shy. I just always been interested in that business

The historical event, I chose is El Dorado . One of the symbols I chose to draw is a man to represent explorers. Explorers were important to include in the Native American Medicine Wheel because they were the ones who explored to find El Dorado. They wanted to find El Dorado because it was a city with lots of gold in it and they wanted more money. Second symbol I drew is the Knife because it was a essential tool to live through the jungle but there are many other tools that help the explorers survive. The explorers used it to survive in the jungle by using it for many things. They used it to protect themselves from animals. They also used it to cut an animal for food. The third symbol I drew is the tree to represent the forest. I included…

One example of a symbol in the novel is when Finny wears a pink shirt and a tie as a belt. This symbolizes Finny's outlook on authority, how he has lack of respect for it and tests it. When Finny wears the pink shirt and the tie as a belt proves how Finny can get away with anything. The Headmaster for violating the dress code at the luncheon questions him. Finny manages to talk his way out of getting in trouble for being out of dress code. His excuse was his patriotism for the bombing in Central America.…

For my summer reading project I chose Melody. For this project we had to pick three symbols for our poster. The three symbols I included were a Mello Yello can, the cerebral palsy symbol, and a brain. I chose a Mello Yello can because that was Melody’s favorite drink. She loved it so much that she was nicknamed “Mello Yello”. In the book it stated “Mello Yello was my favorite. Mrs. V even started calling me that.” (Draper, pg. 44). This was important because she loved being called this. I placed this symbol next to her hand instead of in her hand because she was never able to hold things by herself. She always somebody to feed her and give her drinks. The next symbol I chose to draw was the cerebral palsy sign. I did this because she has been diagnosed with this condition ever since she was born. It is and always will be a huge factor in her life. She will never be the same as everyone else, which makes her feel left out. This represents how she has and always will live. I put it on her shirt because she will have to deal with it everyday much like she has to wear a shirt and get dressed everyday. The final symbol I chose to put on my summer reading poster was a…

Hercules was a very powerful mythological character. In one myth, “He was the King of Tiryns [, a small city in southern Greece]” (Schwab 156). Also in many myths, it was predicted by Zeus that Hercules would one day rule over Greece (“Hercules”). However, none of these were true, though he did have a power: Hercules had duper-human strength. With his super-human strength, he did many things: as a child he strangled two serpents sent by Hera to kill him, he held up the heavens while Atlas went on errands and he over-powered Cerberus without weapons (“Hercules”).…

One symbol that stuck out to me immediately was the image of the American flag. The American flag stand for freedom, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Also it could stand for the American dream but these people in the film aren’t living the American dream. There work hard and they can barely make a living if even that. The second symbol that stuck out to me where the Christmas gifts that Mary Ventilli received from the shelter. There is a part when she said that she donated to people like her. But somehow life placed her in the situation where she required that help and donation from others.…

Other symbols in Life of Pi would include the ocean, which represented life and death at the same time, providing Pi with food but in exchange ruining his body with everything from sores to storms and the whistle, which slightly represented survival, as Pi needed it to keep Richard Parker at bay. In brief, symbols helped this story by allowing the reader to better understand the themes of the…
